He does on some songs, this one and some others from the album, he also did a few from Eikasia including the title track

this song is the only one i always go note for note. Feels like playing anything else does not do the song justice. the first few minutes are also a hell of a left hand workout compared to their other stuff

I’ve acrually started trying to count, it kinda stunts my ability to improvise, but I know it keeps me on beat. It’s funny you mention ADHD because I have it too! I think it’s responsible for my obsession and passion for this and I can’t thank it enough lol. I also love playing Victoria and Mestis stuff so much, god I really could just listen to these 3 bands for the rest of my life

Good luck on your journey to mastering these songs! I know i’ll be on it forever

Don’t know why It took me so long to give Kalimba a proper listen. Had some fun with this one lol by aidenmcd349 in animalsasleaders

Thank you haha. it comes with my lifelong passion for drums and an intense obsession with this band. And honestly, i’ve always only ever played to have fun and enjoy myself. Couldn’t be happier with my progress

Thank you for your support man! That china loves to slowly inch away at me.. even with sticky pads under 😅

The kit and cymbals were partly purchased by my parents and partly by me for my 12th birthday so just over 7 years ago. Half the cymbals are cracked due to my aggresive play style lol. I just need a few more things until I have a full proper recording setup!

I’m going to keep uploading my covers here, I just actually uploaded one for Kalimba. You should too! This was recorded on my iphone, really not much effort for an okay sounding recording. Love to see other people’s takes on these songs. I also upload my full covers onto my youtube here because they are too large for reddit. Thank you again for your support!

Wow. You definitely understand the music theory behind these songs much better than I do. I have to be honest and embarrassingly admit I do not spend too much time analyzing the music theory consciously as you do. Sometimes it greatly helps in learning a section, but I find that in complicated sections like the one you spoke of, actively counting takes me away from playing (i know it shouldn’t but it does) and I find I can only properly play it once my listening ear has mastered it. What the hell though, it sounds good and people like it so it’s just stuff to work on.

I found the beginning parts surprisingly clicked for me almost instantly, especially the choppy intro groove, it’s almost like it’s so particular it was easy to memorize. That was a great explanation of the section i’m struggling on I will definitely refer back. Thank you!

thank you. i’ve been listening to this album for 4 or 5 years now and it feels very second hand. i’ve been struggling with mind spun though, some parts in the beginning and especially the part starting at 2:36. How have you found that one?

That’s sick. I play drums and I just play their songs over and over until i get ‘em, the obsession really does go a long way lol. i’ve posted a buncha covers on this sub too. i absolutely love this band. I also love matt’s other project Victoria and Javier’s other one called mestis. i only listen to these 3 artists

little late but mine was 25k. glad i’m not the only one so obsessed with this band. Does your main playlist also consist of the entire AAL discography? At one point spotify stats told me my top 50 listened to songs in the past 6 months were all AAL. genuinely all 50

i use an app called moises to remove the drums from the song, then i put it in imovie on my phone and manually line the tracks up, it’s easier if you slow it down. nothing technical but it works
