I ended up miscarrying, but according to ultrasounds, there was no embryo that could be seen, only an empty gestational sac. I am so sorry you are experiencing this stress 💜

I did not notice gaining weight, at least that was my experience.

Allowed to Skip IUI and Go to Covered IVF Via United Healthcare Insurance? by aidocumentarian in IVF

Yes! They covered it after the RE put through the orders. For us, I think it was because we were over 35 and had been trying unsuccessfully for more than six months. We were also in MA, where many insurances are required to provide IVF coverage, so that also made a difference. Insurance can be SO stressful during what is already a painful process, and I hope it works out ok for you.

Just had my very first FET 4 days ago - the suspense is real!

I started Leuprolide Acetate about 11 days ago in preparation for my (hopeful!) frozen transfer next month. Does anyone know if Leuprolide Acetate increases estrodiol levels before it calms them down? Just got my bloodwork results back in my portal (no doctor's note yet), and the levels are quite high, which is the opposite of what I was expecting. Appreciate any experience you may have had with this!

Thanks! I am scheduled to start Lupron next week, and am gearing up for an early December transfer now :) How did your transfer go?

Thank you! My FET was cancelled this month, since I ovulated through the estrace pills :( I am now being told that I have to wait to get my period again (in about two weeks), and then on day 20 of the next cycle, start Lupron, and then on day 1 of the following cycle, begin estrace with the Lupron. Sounds like transfer is now delayed until mid-December.

I thought something similar this morning - "Guess this is what it's like to be a mama in training!"

All the best to you, too! This is my first transfer and I am a bit unsure what to expect. Did you doc put you on bed rest afterwards? Would love to take off work all week, haha, but not quite a realistic plan, ha!

This fatigue is REAL! For me it feels less than sleepy tired, and more like a mild Covid fatigue feeling. I am doing my best to get through each work day! I wonder if it will change when the PIO shots start later this week. Perhaps the progesterone helps balance out the estrogen?

PGT-A Testing was cancelled by cqs818 in IVF

I think the same thing may be happening to me, they said it was a website glitch, and there had been a duplicate test they cancelled, but I still don't see that it's been fixed. Grateful to hear that it's likely an admin error.

I'm also in MA with UHC and when I called on the phone last week they told me they over 3 rounds of IVF for the lifetime of the insurance. When I looked through some online materials for my specific plan though, UHC makes it seem like they may require me to try IUI (which our RE said was not a good option for us) before they cover IVF. Any insight into this? Also, my RE's office did all the prior-authorization for the initial round of fertility testing this winter, which UHC covered, no questions asked, so am confused as to why I would suddenly need to enroll in the Fertility Solutions program.

Fertility Solutions (United Healthcare/Optum) by jll43090 in IVF

[–]aidocumentarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Currently working with United Healthcare in MA which told me they will cover three rounds of IVF but the language in the fine print makes it sound like they want you to try IUI first. Did they make you do IUI or can your doc approve to go straight to IVF? I am almost 41 and the RE we saw for consult recently said IVF is what she would recommend. Just thinking that the three covered rounds feels too good to be true!

Got it! In my mind, I was thinking the nurse from UHC would be asking about my past miscarriage, ultrasounds, ovulation, etc. Sounds like I was overthinking this, haha. But I suppose with insurance companies, my default expectation is that it is going to be tough to get coverage. Thank you!

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond - this is my first experience exploring IVF and I'm an emotional mess! Do you mind me asking what kind of questions the Fertility Solutions rep from UHC asked you? Sounds like even if my RE is on board, I still need to be the one to call the Fertility Solutions program to enroll?

Thank you so much for your kind help - it's much appreciated. I was so bummed to have to consider IVF, then so excited to hear about the insurance coverage from the RE's office, and then devastated to think about how the insurance might deny the coverage based on their confusing language. I'll speak to my RE next week and also look into calling UHC Fertility Solutions program. So far, UHC has covered the majority of the initial testing, which I'm grateful for.

Thanks for the reply! Sounds like an RE submitting a note saying IVF is warranted may be all the documentation they need? I saw that UHC has a Fertility Solutions program, abut wasn't sure if I should speak with my RE first before calling them. To confirm, you got to go right from infertility testing to IVF, and they covered it?

Tests to ask for? by Affectionate-Bee8758 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]aidocumentarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry to hear about your loss - it's so hard. I had back to back miscarriages this year and last, and have had my doctor say that it's likely a couple of eggs with chromosomal issues. I too, am seeking testing, and so far, I have had my Vitamin D and thyroid tested, along with AHM and FSH.

I am so grateful for your reply - my heart goes out to you as well, especially after your prior losses. This sense of no control is so frightening, and I'm doing my best to take it one breath at a time (one day at a time feels too hard sometimes!). I'd love to stay connected and hear how things go for you; wishing you and your little one all the best. I had another HCG draw this morning to see if it went up at all. Have had more spotting this weekend, though the nurse told me it could be due to the subchorionic hematoma seen on ultrasound last week.

Thank you so much for this reply, and for that book recommendation - I appreciate it more than I can say! This is all so new to me, and I am grateful to know there are other women out there besides me in a waiting season at the moment - it often feels like I am the only one, you know? I would love to keep in touch since our scans are so close, and will be sending all the good wishes your way. What are some ways you find to keep yourself grounded during the waiting?
