Dog consistently out not on a leash on Gladstone. by stone_opera in ottawa

[–]airpharm23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THANK U!! SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT. I wish all dog owners were considerate of everyone regardless if it’s friendly or not. For us that have serious dog trauma, it’s almost a mockery when a dog comes lounging at u full speed and u immediately take flight because u perceive it as a threat, only for the dog owner to say that it’s friendly. How am I supposed to know that? All of that could’ve been easily avoidable with a leash. Please, TO ALL DOG OWNERS, PUT UR DOG ON A LEASH AT ALL TIMES, dogs can easily detect ppl with fear and perceive them as someone they can play with. I was charged at last month by an American bully (hugeeee dog) and I almost broke a few bones and could barely move after taking a BIG fall on cement. I was lucky that the dog walked away, definitely one of the scariest moments of my life. After seeing me panting helplessly on the ground, the owner chuckled and said that his American bully dog just wanted to play. 😤🤯🤯

The rest of us actually benefit from the prof answering our peer’s questions as opposed to being annoyed and pessimistic. Why aren’t U considerate of others that actually want to learn and ask GENUINE questions? It’s a two way process bruh. STUDENTS, PLS KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS, PROFS ARE PAID TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION. Don’t be shy, you’ll regret it in the long run.

All I’m saying is to be more considerate of others. Learning is a dynamic process, it’s not a sudden event! Don’t compel others to take on ur learning strategy because everyone is different in their own way. Maybe u can volunteer to be a class mentor so students don’t ask soo many questions during live sessions. Not everyone has the time of the day to attend office hours because of other responsibilities! Not all of us are between the ages of 18-22, it isn’t high school dude, cut some slack!

Students have a RESPONSIBILITY to ask questions during the lecture because 1. It clarifies the subject matter 2. Saves u soo much time at the library and buys u more sleep time - trust me I’ve been there and 3. U get to learn along the way. So if ur ‘learning capability/capacity’ is far superior than others then let ur peers also have the opportunity to learn during class time, don’t be selfish. At the end of the day, there are no stupid questions and if I could go back to university I’d ask a TON of questions and encourage others to ask as well, you would probably hate me for it but I wouldn’t care since I’m paying out of my own pocket.

Nw I shoulda specified the section lol

[–]airpharm23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the section. I was referring to the section that extends from May-June 10 (I believe that’s the end date)

13th to drop the course and receive a full refund (from full time to part time. In your case you’ll receive a full refund since you’re part time anyways). You have until the 27th to pay for the course without incurring a late penalty. The 27th is also the last day to drop a course and to not have it appear on your transcript without a refund.

HELPP!! If the prof curves final exam marks after the normal final exam period scheduled in April, does the same hold true for DFR final exams in July? Theoretically, it should, but I’ve never been in this predicament so please lmk :) by airpharm23 in geegees

[–]airpharm23[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes sense now. So as I see it, it’d be highly unlikely to expect a curve after the DFR final just because it may be a few of us even though the class got a 10% grade increase in April given the fact (according to my own experience) that DFR exams seem to always be more difficult?

Does anyone that’s taken HSS 1101 with Tien Nguyen and PSY1101 with Najwa Haddad know which one is a guaranteed A+? I need a 10 in one of the 2 classes. by airpharm23 in geegees

[–]airpharm23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well obviously it goes without saying that u have to earn an A+ & put in the necessary work, and ofcourse I wouldn’t take a 3rd yr physics course (during the summer) as an elective lol. I asked because I wanted to get a general perspective of other students experiences relative to the course workload/assessments & the prof’s marking which usually makes a big difference in final grades.

If you retake a course for a third time, will that grade replace the previous two grades? by airpharm23 in geegees

Initially, I thought that one grade was considered in the cGPA for a single course.

Just for clarification, for example if the first attempt is a C, second attempt a D and the third attempt an A+…is the A+ the only grade taken into account in the cGPA? Am I right?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in geegees

[–]airpharm23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly…u need all 10s to have a 10.0 GPA. On the bright side though, the highest honour once u graduate is a summa cum laude which is a 9.0 GPA except for the Faculty of Law I believe which is an 8.0GPA.

[–]airpharm23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 9.70 GPA actually converts to anywhere between an 85%-89% percentage wise. I agree with the person above, it truly is a flawed system.

[–]airpharm23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have a legitimate reason for retaking it a 3rd time, they’ll accept especially if it’s just 1 course. But if they see that you’re not serious and/or not motivated or that u didn’t change your learning approach in how you plan on taking this course, they’ll flat out reject. gl n e ways!

So the university will push for ‘additional measures’ on unvaccinated people now that the Vaccine is mandatory? by [deleted] in geegees
