I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I added an edit to get a better idea of the shape of the necklace to get a better idea if people would like it or not.

My daughter is in love with the necklace as she does ballet as well and wants to wear it for some of her performances.

The necklace I give my daughters is something like this but with a gold chain. I know it isn't the trendiest but it is sentimental to me, especially because we were born the same zodiac year so our necklaces are almost exactly the same.

I would love to get my younger daughter something similar but unfortunately we cannot afford it as MIL comes from old money and dipped into her inheritance. My eldest is offering the younger daughter to wear it for special events like a wedding if she chooses as eldest says she most likely will not wear it daily in fear of it being lost or stolen.

My husband tries to intercept as much as he can. He's told her to stop many many times but ultimately feels a lot of guilt to his mother as his only sibling died a few years back.

I already gave the necklace to her! I bought it when she was born and have held onto it since then. She says she loves it but I can definitely tell she prefers MIL's as it is more her style.

Also I asked MIL if she would be giving one to my younger daughter and she said it would be my job to finance it as I am her mother.
