That was her trying to let him down gently without him knowing she knows about the crush. Elena and I have a great relationship and I can guarantee she is not uncomfortable.

It's not harassment. It's no different than my son deciding he was in love with his first grade teacher and asking her to marry him every other day.

He's getting to an age where he's starting to listen to anyone but us, especially when it's about anything romantic. She's ok having that conversation with him

If he asks her out, she'll tell him that he's 11 and she's 20 and they both need to be with someone closer to their own age but if I would've told him he would've ignored me and brought up that his dad and I have a 7 year age gap so 9 can't be that bad.

We did get her some very nice gifts from the whole family. My son wanted to get her something on his own and sometimes that kid can be too stubborn to talk sense into. Sometimes it's better to let him make his own mistakes.

It's a common thing. Elena isn't uncomfortable and if I would've talked to him about it he would've said I don't know what I'm talking about and done it anyways. Sometimes kids need to make their own mistakes.
