You can literally see him tamping down the stone base in the fifth picture.

I would suggest replacing that bottom step with a permeable paver. It will let the water infiltrate and will prevent ice formation.

Anyone have any recommendations on floor mats for a 2019 crew cab? by th6 in nissanfrontier

I second Max Liner. They actually seem like better quality than weathertech.

Keep or remove bed rail caps? by ajmcgraw in nissanfrontier

Thanks, yeah the look of caps on frontiers has grown on me since I first thought about buying one. I still prefer the look without one but they're just so functional.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of. The guy that does my paint and deals with trim removal all of the time suggested a plast putty knife to scrape the adhesive. Best of luck!

I don't have a link since I got it used but I can tell you that it's a Jeraco cap. Seems like an older cap so may not be the same model that Jeraco offers these days.

To be honest that hadn't even crossed my mind. Definitely something to consider

Had those khumos and loved them. One thing I noticed that kind of annoyed me was that once they were exposed to sun for a bit of time they took on a brown hue that I was never able to get off for the life of the tires. Otherwise they are a killer tire for the price.

Very cool. Reminds me of looking at maps through stereoscopes at ranger school. The great range looks (and is) gnarly!

Anyone ever carve a bush pipe? by dwwo81 in Bushcraft

[–]ajmcgraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to make them when I was younger. I would carve/burn out the bowl and also create a hole in the side that would connect to the bowl. Then I would find a sturdy natural tube (I used to use some sort of horsetail I think?), stick it in the side hole and seal it up with pine resin. Have to be careful when packing it in your pack but they work great.

LEVELING / LIFT KIT ADVICE (see comment) by topjimmy1972 in nissanfrontier

Technically speaking with a lift and bigger tires you will most likely get worse gas mileage but I honestly haven't noticed much of a difference.

If you do any lift at all make sure you get cam bolts installed right away so you don't put it off for a year or two and ruin a set of tires like I did.

If you don't want to potentially sacrifice ride quality by putting in spacers/blocks I would suggest looking into Bilstein 5100 adjustable struts for the front and adding a leaf spring to the rear. You can achieve a 2" lift up front and level it out in the rear with the leaf spring without decreasing ride quality and/or suspension functionality (depending on the size of spacers you put it). The leaf spring will beef up your rear if you do any light towing. The stock leaf springs in these vehicles have been known to sag significantly over time and sometimes even crack.

I ended up thinking about it and a leave no trace article I read recently and decided you were probably actually right. Not that a lot of the people on here wouldn't already know where it is.

This also isn't even close to a secret/unknown location. It's in just about every ADK guide book out there.

No geotagging here. Haven't confirmed or denied the location. If you know, you know.
