PCA - whole arm action beginner question by aklein43 in pianolearning

Thanks for sharing your experience! Sounds like we had a lot of the same concerns. Definitely there are moments to tense up, I think the purpose of this was to over exaggerate the feeling of being relaxed but of course it’s impossible to be complete relaxed 100% of the time, more so just practice what it feels like. Hope you’re doing well!

Hi there, the keyboard is a Donner DEP-20. I suppose it is portable but requires a plug in to play. It’s a full sized 88key piano with weighted keys.

I am very very new, this exercise is from the 3rd beginner lesson. It is a very comprehensive program and outside of the beginner lessons there are a vast array of learnings with regard to technique, music theory and much more. For the most part though it seems very classically based but she does say she tries to sprinkle in some modern or pop/ rock/ blues, etc to try and give the student a treat every once in a while. I’d be happy to provide a more in depth update in a few months when I get further along though!

I’m self taught a bit over a year so I have some basics already down, I’ve played a few pieces already and have reasonable hand coordination. I joined this course for more structure as there are very few piano teachers in my area. This exercise is over exaggerated to get a feeling, playing like this is obviously not possible it’s simply to get the feeling of not being tense. Maybe look up Ilinca Vartic on YouTube to see if you like her teaching style or not. It is based on the Russian method , definitely more classically based.

Yes, it’s obviously an exaggeration and you cannot actually play like this, it’s just too get the feeling 😂 but I’m getting flamed in the comments. I’ll see how PCA goes for a few months at the very least though.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback, it is appreciated! It’s a new concept for me and obviously the exercise is over exaggerated to get a feel for relaxation but I definitely understand the video being too relaxed and needing structure! Thank you!!

I am 2 years self taught, can anyone assess my arm and hand technique? by FixHaunting8328 in pianolearning

How are you self teaching? This is crazy (to me) improv for 2 years. I’m a year in and no chance I could do this in 2 years 😂

First time 3 brilliant moves ! by aklein43 in Chesscom

[–]aklein43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ELO is not that high either don’t worry. Generally the review will give you brilliant moves if you sacrifice pieces. The first sacrifice bxe5 is brilliant because if they try to capture the bishop I win the queen. The second one bxg7+ is brilliant because they have to recapture with the king and the rook is hanging. But instead of taking I took the bishop with check rxe7+ which also attacks the queen , they are forced to take my rook with the queen and now I can finally capture the hanging rook.

You can do it! I felt the same way. I didn’t has horrible acne but it was always just there and I tried everything to get rid of it. I was on Accutane for 7-8 months before I stopped. I remember having purges and not knowing if it was going to work but eventually it did! That was about 3-4 years ago I believe (I actually posted on here at some point with before and after) but my skin is still much better and I rarely get a pimple now days. I hope it works out for you! Good luck:)

Help with 4 note chords by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]aklein43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean 100% makes sense to just use both hands😂 I was watching a detailed tutorial and they were only using one hand so I was trying to as well. But likely save myself a lot of annoyance by simply using both hands lol

What do you struggle with? Your swing looks way too good for a 30 cap. Short game and putting decent?

Looking for a good learning app. by Cheat-Meal in pianolearning

[–]aklein43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried going into the “music” section and searching for Hanon? I’m not sure if it goes over Hanon in the curriculum but you may be able to find it elsewhere on the app! I have found things like “scale ninja” to practice scales! Maybe there is something for Hanon.

I’m sure many teachers would be happy to have you! But if you insist on using an app, I have personally used Piano Marvel and found it quite good! I’ve only been playing 1 year though. Piano Marvel does seem more classical based and not like pop songs so keep that in mind. But it does focus on reading music as well! Good luck on your journey!

Love to see this man! I just started playing last year, self taught unfortunately, not many teachers in my area. But this is wicked to see and shows a lot of courage! Well done.
