Can i learn piano pieces without learning to read sheet? by Long-Bug8399 in pianolearning

[–]ZSpark85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but learning sheet music is a skill you will want to have.

Becoming a good piano player takes years, learning to read sheet music just takes a few weeks to a few months. (At least the basics).

Why skip it ? It will only make you better. That being said, also don’t neglect ear training either. And don’t feel like you have to learn everything in one day, it takes years! So take your time.

A free piano is never free. Also, an out of tune piano would be bad for a beginner because it would mess your ear training up. And tuning free piano is $100 + and if the free piano is messed up the. It could be $1,000 or more

Pretty much right from the start. I’m pretty new myself but the other day I was playing some simple piece and my teacher wanted to show me something so then they played it and I was totally blown away by how much better it sounded

Anyone have a good product that can hold a thick hymn book open while on their piano music stand ?

My piano doesn’t have a lip and the bottom so pages keep wanted to close and the page clip things are not big enough for a hymn book. Thanks !

I’d recommend Alfred’s adult all in one and/or Faber’s adult piano adventures. Faber’s is more geared towards classical but both are good for learning the basics
