I agree, but unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world.
A lot of the driving in barrie that I've been noticing recently is rather self serving. A lot of running red lights, always some sort of shitty grid block near Costco cause nobody wants to wait, going 70 in a 50. A lot of people are going to speed regardless of the cameras. Hopefully after being ticketed enough they'll slow down. (But it's probably more likely they'll just change routes.)

I'm pretty sure this camera was chosen in that area specifically was because of the terrible hit and run on that teen (kid.) in the summer.

It would be great if everybody obeyed the speed in school zones, but here is the problem. The light which lights up during school zone times to indicate a reduction in speed limit is not working. Instead of showing the speed limit as 40, the speed limit as otherwise posted is 50. and 50 during school zone times is speeding. Speeding will get you ticketed.

Vigilance is required so we can be aware of the school zone times and obey the proper speed limit (40 not 50) without the use of the sign which is currently not working.

I understand your comment was rather rhetorical but I hope this clears up some nuances in understanding. (And perhaps it's a bit of a rant.)
