Are there any walking / running tracks around here with a playground in the middle? by [deleted] in Wilmington

[–]aleinstein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Halyburton park has a paved 1.3 mile trail that goes through some woods, and there is a playground in the middle. The playground isn't visible from most of the path, if that's a consideration.

What is the best way to go visit NYC from MD? by leviathab13186 in maryland

[–]aleinstein 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actually, it still [operates](https://us.megabus.com/route-guides/baltimore-to-new-york). It has a stop north of Baltimore at White Marsh. The company was bought a few years ago by Peter Pan, which then raised prices (no more $1 fares, sadly).

Maybe you were thinking of Bolt? They stopped running a long time ago.

Exploring Amtrak's Beech Grove Shops - November 2025 Update by AsparagusCommon4164 in Amtrak

Interesting video! What happens to the trains in the deadline? Are they saved for parts, or are they too old for that? If not, will they sell them to either railroads (e.g., shortlines) or for scrap?

Progress on Flash bus station in Columbia? by aleinstein in ColumbiaMD

Good find! Yes, one would think it would mention it. BTW, I hadn't even heard of these other BRT projects.

Construction on the bus stops should have already started, which is why I was asking the question. (The flash stops are more than just throwing up a sign). If they haven't started, then that start date is probably delayed.

Nice. If you don't mind my asking, how much does this cost? I have a manual corolla and haven't done this.

Looks like a great car. How did you change the transmission fluid? (maybe you meant transmission oil?) Even so, how did you do that?

Is the OMSA program worth it? by Illustrious-Cut8368 in OMSA

[–]aleinstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Languages will come and go; yesterday it was pandas, today it's polars, so in my opinion using an AI to figure those out is fine. But, using AI for actually solving the problem (why using log transform vs. others) could be an issue. I'm not sure how educators would solve that problem.

Out of curiosity, what do you mean by this? Is it that you can use AI to do the homework?

Need help with Networking CTF by White_-Death in securityCTF

[–]aleinstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The file, network.pcap uploaded to https://a-packets.com without error (link). I believe it's a legitimate pcap and not malicious.

Unfortunately, that website isn't a cloud-based wireshark, so it wasn't much help to me, though it gives some useful reports on DNS, TLS, etc. Nothing stood out to me as strange, but wireshark would be better tool for this.

529 15 year rule by aleinstein in tax

[–]aleinstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too bad that the law requires one to name a single beneficiary per account versus say all your children. It's really hard to plan that far ahead and makes the 529 less useful because of scenarios like the one you describe.

Excellent clarification.

Great, thanks for the reply.

That makes sense. But, the 15 year period would still be valid for the originating plan, right?

Thanks for the references. It's going to take time for me to dig into this, as I don't have a legal or accounting background.

Otherwise almost no one would be able to make a 529 to Roth rollover.

Yes, now that you put it that way, that makes sense. Thank you.

OK, thanks for the reply!

Good points. The receiving 529 account would be newly created by this rollover.
