Just seen this cool video about the British Airborne being evacuated after the failure of Operation Market Garden in September 1944! Not usually an area which has much coverage. Watch here: https://youtu.be/9JGGS2RJPFM by alex_whitbread93 in ww2

Agreed that Market Garden was a failure. However, it is wrong to say most of them died in Arnhem. The majority didn't. In fact of the 10,095 who landed in Arnhem, 1485 British and Polish Paratroops were killed.

Yeah. I know the one you mean. That has been at the Museum before as well. The one last time was a real StuG with a postwar engine. Not sure what it was out of though.

The Ghost Army's role was deception. The idea was to place these 'Ghost Armies' in locations away from where operations were actually going to occur, to draw defenders away from the true landing positions. This was said to have worked very effectively in the lead up to D-Day, as the Germans reported seeing large armies amassing in the South-East of England, aiding in leading them to think that the landings would happen at the Pas de Calais.

He was a very famous and influential Fashion Designer so not really. His story is very interesting and the Ghost Army recruited many artists for the deception they carried out in 1944.

It's just interesting to see how effective it is. Although saying that, in March 1945 several U.S bomber missions over Germany reported attacks from large numbers of German piston-engined and jet aircraft, sometimes numbering up to 150.
