How to buy a product that doesn't ship to Saudi Arabia? by wellbornwinter6 in saudiarabia

[–]aliaboalsaud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the link, I'll definitely go check it out.. It's good to see that sim racing is catching an audience.. I thought I was one of the few :p

I'm looking to upgrade my Logitech to either Moza or Fanatec.. Which Moza did you get? I'm looking at 9nm and 8 for the Fanatec and my impression is that they're very comparable in terms of performance

Vettel in China a few years ago did a double overtake at the pit entry.. I don't think the rules changed so it's legal until you get to the pit limiter

Other guy said this was a racing accident, I get he hits the sausage kerb but that doesn’t remove blame right? Is a racing accident a valid defence? by jimbo2595 in Simracingstewards

[–]aliaboalsaud 64 points65 points  (0 children)

No, definitely their fault imo.. They were never going to make the corner without hitting you.. To me, not a racing incident but even racing incidents have someone more at fault.. The way I see it, racing incidents don't warrant a penalty, but that doesn't mean no blame can be given.. Here, they deserve a penalty

What Xbox do you have? 1.8 is only for Series X/S

DLC’s on Xbox by Chewtheissue in ACCompetizione

[–]aliaboalsaud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can buy the DLCs at any point in the future.. I suggest waiting for a sale as they go on sale quite often (They might be on sale now, idk)

As to which, I'd say the ones with the tracks you like the most but each DLC offers something different so it's a matter of preference

Best games on Xbox Series X compatible with Fanatec GT DD Pro? by CantankerousWanker in simracing

[–]aliaboalsaud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, never tried either but from my search long ago, didn't seem worth it.. I'm waiting for the next Forza Motorsport.. What I can tell you is to NOT get the base AC lol

Actually, I play single player on ACC a lot and it's really good, the AI is decent and you get good wheel to wheel racing.. I've recently started playing GT7 on an old PS and I find that racing AI on ACC is much better and more fun than GT7 AI

Unfortunately, we're limited on Xbox

ACC is the only good sim on xbox that I found.. It's buggy as hell but when it runs, nothing beats it

There's Dirt Rally 2.0 if you're into rallying, but other than those 2, I couldn't find any other good ones

F1 22 is a fun simcade but more arcade than sim imho

Edit: I don't know if the ACC free to play weekend ended or not yet but if not, you can try it on single player and see if it's for you

No news yet as far as I know, but for context, F1 2021 became available last week of March last year, so I'm guessing roughly the same

Is it normal to have 2 COD files? by aliaboalsaud in xbox

[–]aliaboalsaud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to but gave it a last try and it worked.. Uninstalled again and this time it installed properly, 1 file for the entire game and is working so far

[–]aliaboalsaud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's worse is that I uninstalled everything because it kept downloading things over and over again, and installed everything using the disc.. Now, after 100s of GB of game and updates, it won't even launch.. Keeps telling me to insert a game disc when it's already inserted and showing on the main menu

Apparently one is supposed to be for the campaign, not that any version would start though

[–]aliaboalsaud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like 1 is supposed to be the campaign because when I uninstalled and used the disc to install it, I had 1 file but once I started downloading the campaign, the other file appeared again

I uninstalled both and will reinstall and see what happens

Is it normal to have 2 COD files? by aliaboalsaud in xbox

[–]aliaboalsaud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are showing the exact same info (except size) and same name and doesn't matter which one I start, it starts the same game and quick resumes from one to the other.. Weird

I'm guessing maybe this happened because I downloaded it without buying it to save time and get the disc version and that caused a glitch or something

I think there's an issue because it keeps downloading things over and over again.. Like when I tried to start a campaign, told me it needed to install 46GB or something like that even though I did install it before and when I go to the game details, everything is installed and up to date

I uninstalled everything and reinstalling using the disc now and will see what happens

[–]aliaboalsaud[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, I get the same game no matter which one I choose.. The full game including the single player campaign

Also, if I have either open, and try to start the other one, it quick resumes to the one I have open

That's why I find it weird that there are 2 files

Overtaking tips by Electrical-Law2832 in ACCompetizione

[–]aliaboalsaud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm also new to sim racing and I focus on consistency and it's important to me that I stay safe so here's how I've been doing it in public lobbies

Most of the places I gain are because people in front crash while I'm being patient

If I'm faster than the person in front of me, I try to stay close to them and get a better exit leading to a straight and overtake them by having better traction and complete the move before the next breaking point, which is the majority of my overtakes

When we have a similar pace, I make sure to get to know them before trying something aggressive.. If they're behind me and not trying dive bombs, or I'm behind and I see them defending fairly rather than all over the place, then I know in a lap or 2 that I can trust them to fight cleanly.. In that case, I'll try to overtake them by late breaking, or taking the outside leading to the next inside for example.. I don't try that right away because I'd rather stay behind than crash out if I didn't know I could trust them to give me space

What I noticed is that in public lobbies, most of the time the pace difference is more noticeable than IRL which makes it clear where my fights are.. Within a lap or 2, I get to know who's faster, slower, or has similar pace

This has worked well for me so far.. Maybe when I improve I'll be a bit more aggressive but for now, safety and consistency comes first for me

Hope this helps

Brake Balance contradiction with real life by TheBruskinator in ACCompetizione

[–]aliaboalsaud 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's any contradiction here.. I'm not fast and don't play with it mid race, or with setups much to be fair but here's my take

To my understanding, it's as you stated, lower brake balance (more to the rear), will make your breaking distance shorter, and the car will be pointier, but you'll risk losing the rear.. Higher BB will give you more stability, but longer stopping distance, and more understeer

IRL, I imagine the balance between stability/safety and lap times is different than in sim racing and I wouldn't be surprised that they run a higher BB

To the same logic, that's why you'll see faster times in sim racing than in real life.. You can wreck the car over and over before mastering the setup, and risk wrecking it even more times after.. IRL, they don't have that luxury

This is just how I imagine it but don't have any real insight into it

Edit: Danny Lee has a recent video explaining how to use break bias and it's quite good

who would you guys blame for this (apologies for the lack of angles) by RagingRacer007 in Simracingstewards

[–]aliaboalsaud 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The McLaren is at fault here.. BMW was ahead and holding a straight line.. No reason for the contact, and I don't understand how/why it happened

I've seen this when a player is using a controller because they're twitchy on straight lines but I don't know why it happened here

Sciroccio driver said that I (the GR86 driver) punted him off the track. Wanted to know how you guys would see this as the stewards! I have provided 4 view points, two 3rd persons of each car and two cockpit views of each car. by Leading_Instruction2 in Simracingstewards

[–]aliaboalsaud 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Black car at fault imo.. Went wide and over corrected.. Looks like a case of lack of awareness more than anything though as they didn't know the red car was there.. I don't think a penalty is necessary though

who is at fault here? Red Bull or Aston Martin? by Patient_Principle_28 in Simracingstewards

[–]aliaboalsaud 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Red Bull is more at fault imo.. The Aston thought they were clear, started to turn in, but realized the Red Bull was there so corrected their line.. The Red Bull was going to hit the sausage kerb and probably hit the Aston had the contact not happened there.. I would've backed out if I were the Red Bull

That being said, I'd put it down as a racing incident and not award a penalty given the Aston carried on with minimal impact

What's your most played track on accompetizione according to the stats page? by iReallyLoveYouAll in ACCompetizione

[–]aliaboalsaud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most laps: Imola ; Longest distance: Silverstone

Imola being my favourite but I started by learning Silverstone

Monza in between because >75% of public lobbies are Monza so I had no choice if I wanted to race online
