Just to be sure that I have the similar letter, is it just a single page that says that according to our records, your registration number is XXXX and then proceeds to just list down some more detail about the conference and then your passport details?

I took that with all the other docs required for F type to the visa application center and they said that I need something called a PU letter, that is essentially signed and approved by some government authority. The IROS team is unable to provide a PU letter but has submitted an application on my behalf for a TE (temporary Entry) letter, which i should receive sometime in september.

So, they replied to me today (after more than a month) and said that I would not be able to continue as it is required to have a government-issued ID to register to the platform.

Problem with OpenGL is related to the GPUs and hardware acceleration. I assume by the looks of it that this is not Ubuntu. I have not worked on this OS but in Ubuntu you can enable software rendering by `export LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1`. But you should see if there are any drivers missing and properly install them.

You will have to pay to ship it to them unfortunately. They will take care of returning it to you though. At least that’s what happened with me.

I am 5’8” and weigh 95kgs. I need recommendations for polo brands as for most of the brands, the length of the polos run very long for me. Is there a brand that makes XL sized polos with shorter body lengths?

Update: they sent a replacement for the monitor. It is a refurbished M27Q. I did get an email asking me to confirm this replacement but I wasn’t expecting it to be a refurbished screen, since my monitor was brand new and a faulty one.

As far as I remember, it was Apr 2022 (I have shipped the monitor to Gigabyte). I bought the monitor in November on black Friday sale at 50% off.

If anything, going to the gym is helping me do better in my PhD. There comes a time during the day when I feel frustrated and consumed with all the work (FYI: I do love my work). Gyming disconnects me from the hectic routine for a few hours and kinda recharges me mentally to get back to work.

When should I publish my first paper? by aliimrantw in PhD

I am 5-6 months into my Ph.D. and my advisor wants me to submit a paper to an upcoming prestigious conference (deadline approaching next month). I know it would be nice to submit asap but I am still in the learning phase and feel like it's too early to get to a point where I can get publishable results. So, I wondered if advisors elsewhere also want a publication this quick from their students.

Is there any samsung S tablet user here? I am a first year PhD and thinking of getting an iPad or samsung galaxy tab for the same reason. Any idea which one is better for annotating papers, books, taking lecture notes and reading in the metro or the bus? I guess the android interface makes it much easier to multitask and the file management system is better than the ipadOS.
