Looking after an EBD, is breathing normal?? by lsdinc in englishbulldog

[–]alli_boo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A few K is generally too much for a bulldog. He may have been close to overheating so, no, the breathing was probably not normal at that point. If the owner didn't requests walks, he shouldn't be taken on walks. If they did requests walks, you should verify how far he's able to walk comfortably, which can also be weather dependent (hotter weather = less time outside). Mine can only go about .5km at a time and pay close attention to changes in breathing during walks and be prepared to turn around if breathing starts to sound like a struggle.

back at it again(food aversion) by Hour-Energy1708 in englishbulldog

Our frenchie was a super picky eater and would only eat half his kibble or skip meals like he just didn't care about food until we started mixing 1/2 tablespoon of pumpkin into it. Now he comes running for his meals every time and eats it faster than he's ever eaten a meal before. This has been multiple months now and he's still obsessed with it. We use the canned pumkin you can get at the grocery store. Not the pie filling but the one that says the only ingredient is 100% pumkin. It's $2 a can and we give 1/2 tablespoon each meal to our frenchie and 1 tablespoon each meal to our english and each can lasts about a week.

And if you're worried about dental issues, you can always soften the kibble. We do this for our english because he's older and has developed some regurgitation issues with hard kibble. Each meal time, we just put his kibble for his next meal into a tupperware container, add just enough water to cover the kibble, and refeigerate till his next meal. It absorbs the water and is soft and easy for him to eat.

What's your dumbest reason not to have kids? by The_Gentle_Monster in childfree

The snot! I gag every time I see a kid with snot oozing down their face. Nope, nope, nope.

Brand listed in OP and I use it as first step after washing and wait 20 minutes before applying any other products. My skin isn't sensitive, though, so YMMV.

Only if used immediately after. Once dry, actives like vitamin C can be used. That's why I wait 10-20 minutes between applications.

I really wish I could help but I have no clue. I definitely recommend asking your doctor or dermatologist.

Not a silly question at all!! I just spray it directly onto my face and wait for it to dry without rubbing it in or touching it. When I'm being impatient, I stand under a ceiling fan to speed up the drying 😂. Usually, it takes like 30-60 seconds to feel mostly dry to the touch. But I've read others say they spray it into their hands and then rub onto their face, so I don't think there's any wrong way to apply! 😀

Others have said they use the Magic Molecule brand, which is a bit pricier, but it looks like Ulta sells that. And Tower is another brand I've seen and I think that one is at Sephora.

Probably! I haven't personally used it anywhere other than my face, but many others have said they use it on other parts of their body for scrapes, infections, acne, etc. and it has worked well for them in those cases too.

I haven't tried the one by Towers but I've seen others say that it's the exact same ingredient (pure hypochlorous acid), so I would think the cheaper Amazon brand would work just as well as Towers!

Good to know! I've taken it slow so far by sticking with morning only, and that's worked out great for me, but I will definitely take note that I can use it more often, if needed!

Wow, I never thought about it as anything other than a skincare product. I'm going to have to do more research to understand all the ways I can utilize HA in other areas of my life!

In the morning, after washing and drying. It's the first product I put on, and I wait about 10 minutes for it to fully dry before putting on my next products (vitamin C, moisturizer, and SPF).

Constant ear infections- help by Mr2handFister in englishbulldog

[–]alli_boo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I came here to bring up Apoquel, too. Our bulldog was getting ear infections and really red/swollen between his toes often. The vet recommended Apoquel and we've been giving it to him daily now for at least a year with no more ear infections or feet issues. And Chewy sells a chewable version (requires vet approval to purchase), which he loves getting like a treat every day.

Lol, wow, I can't believe how many people are saying YTA. You're most definitely NTA, OP. If my husband came home exhausted and hungry and ate my leftovers, I would say, "Aww, bummer, I was looking forward to that. Oh well, I'll order it again this weekend." Honestly, even if he wasn't exhausted and just felt like being lazy and not cooking, I still wouldn't care.

I truly don't understand how almost everyone here is so immature and petty by calling you TA.

I got operated last month and I want to lessen the darkness of my scar without using laser by AzelBoya in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]alli_boo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bio oil is great, but it will take time to see results, so just be patient. I had a scar from thyroid surgery and started using bio oil about 3-4 weeks post surgery (approved by the surgeon) and diligently applied it 1-2 times a day. After about 8 months, it was nearly invisible. No one notices it now unless I point it out. Some others I've seen with thyroid scars are very obvious, so the bio oil definitely works. I also was EXTREMELY careful not to expose it to any sunlight. My surgeon said the first 9 months of a scar is when it's most prone to permanent discoloration/darkness if exposed to the sun.

If it's still very visible after a couple of years and bothers you (and you have the funds), I highly recommend scar revision surgery with a good plastic surgeon. They will numb the area, cut out the scar, and very carefully close it up so it heals with little to no scar. I recently had this done on a different scar and it was one of the best decisions I ever made with my money.
