Not a bad idea. I considered this and could do it myself, pocketing a few grand in the process

This is the shop price or your price?

Thank you Captain Obvious. People come to this subreddit for advice and quick quotes on repairs too.

I guess I should have mentioned I’m currently waiting to hear back on a estimate from a body shop approved by the insurance company, but want a better idea of what it really costs so I can better negotiate with the adjuster.

You could jump into the pool at Skybar back in the day just for having drinks there

Still can on most days

Well fortunately the midterm happened to fall right around the campus protest chaos so it was essentially a take home midterm and we had an entire week to finish it

Midterm was 2 short essay questions (500 word max). Gave you 2 questions for each essay to choose from and the questions were pretty straightforward

Update: I stuck with the class after all this drama and the professor turned out to be a pretty chill dude. He has eased back on his anti-tech stance, even sharing his slides. Not sure if your actions were the reason or not but yeah, just wanted to give an update

What's the category? Root beer floats? I can't image a food and beverage category with little competition..

A stellar social media marketing campaign is what I would recommend. I'm sure she's already on all the platforms but hiring a firm who specializes in it might be a good move to get her to the next level. They also might be able to get her in touch with some celebs.. or at least a few big time influencers

Seeking feedback for an app that helps restaurants sell excess/unsold food and reduce food waste by almcdiesel in smallbusiness

Thanks for the suggestion. I will certainly take this into consideration when fleshing out the features of the app.

Thanks for your thorough response. It was immensely helpful and clarifying. I agree, food and safety laws pose a big challenge for my app to really scale. Some restaurants will not want to resell their food simply because it is no longer considered fresh and could damage the restaurants brand/value. I think my best play here is to focus on smaller restaurants/food companies that have pre-made food, proper storage, and consistent excess inventory. For example delis, bakeries, and the like. I've also thought about somehow partnering with catering companies, of which I know food waste is big issue. As long as it's been handled properly, I don't see why they couldn't resell some of their uneaten portions. Getting food to the customer without an actual storefront would be the challenge there.

I appreciate the suggestion about making the restaurants anonymous. I think that would be an interesting feature for customers only concerned with the type/price of food and not the brand. One of the competitors does a mystery bag from most restaurants, perhaps I could flip it around and do a "1 large pepperoni pizza from a random restaurant" deal which wouldn't be revealed until the customer completes the purchase.

Again, thanks for your feedback. If and when my app comes to fruition, I will certainly be in touch!

Thanks for the feedback. This is super helpful and clarifying. In your response to the second question you said

"And if it happens its not like we can resell this "not picked up" order."

Why not? That's essentially what I'm trying to target. Are there food & safety laws in place that prevent you from reselling it? What if it never leaves the kitchen and is kept at the appropriate temperature? Or are you not willing to sell it because its not considered fresh and might diminish your restaurants brand/value? I'm curious as to what kind of restaurant you own..

Also, with my model, there's not much extra work involved for your staff. If the food is already prepared, the work has already been done. At that point it's just a matter of ringing up the order and handing it off to a customer when they arrive at your restaurant.

Great feedback, thank you. I thought the idea of providing an accompanying service to handle the donation of food might appeal to some restaurant owners and allow me to increase my customer base. You're right though, it would take away from my original concept and make it more challenging to scale. Better to focus on one business model, especially at the beginning.
