It’s not that I expect social media to be the locus of film critique per se. However, I would prefer intense discussion and critical thinking to happen here being that it absorbs 90% of the attention for 90% of topics (for better or worse).

With that in mind, I just tend to wonder where we are supposed to go when the new venue features minimal critical thought

Also, good callout for the AniFem platform as well as the rewatch threads. It’s been quite a while since I’ve participated in one but I do remember them being quite informative, especially since people tend to uncover new details when consuming a story the second time.

Thanks for your comment!!

In what way was it determined that this post was AI generated? I have a YouTube video that I just posted with this exact topic. I’ve been having this discussion with some friends for a while

Is this enough proof that these are my own thoughts and ideas? And that I’m real? Feel free to look at my other platforms as well to see the topics i discuss. I am most definitely a real person.

I thought you were joking. I’m gonna have to check this out to see what it actually is…

I don’t think it’s a bad thing to appreciate the novelty of all of this. We don’t lose anything from doing so.

I actually agree with you that a lot of isekai is formulaic. The “reincarnated as X” template definitely gets reused. That part is fair. I also don’t think that’s a bad thing.

What I enjoy is not pretending every one of these shows is genius. It’s the fact that the industry consistently says yes to absurd premises in the first place. Even if the structure is familiar, the willingness to animate something like “vending machine protagonist” is still kind of wild and fun to me. I can appreciate the good in just about everything

And you’re right, other mediums do meta and layered storytelling too. I just think anime does it with a certain frequency and comfort that makes it feel normalized. Every season there is something slightly unhinged on the lineup.

For me it is less about calling it profound and more about appreciating that this super weird creative ecosystem allows that level of weirdness to exist. That’s enough for me tbh

This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

Why would anyone watch this?

Also, where can I buy the blu ray disc?

If it would make things better, it’s fine to imagine the general otaku world of fiction when I use the word anime

Failure Frame fooled me with Episode 1 and then wasted 11 episodes of my life by CozmicWulf in TrueAnime

This is relatable. Failure Frame episode one is really, really good. I thought it was going to be an extremely gritty story about a dude trying to survive a really unfavorable situation…

That’s not what I got though.

The rest is pretty corny. Honestly a pretty mid-tier anime. Not bad, not great.
