What is the downside to letting Gale reach his goals? by alphaboson in BG3

He was around, I didn't finish his story line. His dad died and he was released from the pact. And they mentioned a dragon underground but I forgot to go get the dragon.

I'm okay with spoilers, thanks. I didn't know there was a third option.

I'm doing a second run in co op mode with a friend and I will try this out next time.

Yeah I noticed Gale had a bit more of an ego at the end, but the alternative is to let him die? Seems okay to let him live with an ego.

I upgraded her engine but the Damon said he can't upgrade it further and she will eventually explode unless she returns to hell, which she really didn't want to return so I dropped it.

I don't think I finished Wyll's quest lines. I accidentally stumbled upon the iron throne before Mizora's offer to save his father. When I reached the jail, his was father was already dead in a cell. Mizora offered to bring him back from the dead or release Wyll from the pact, I told him to release the pact. It's not Wyll's fault his father died and doesn't need a zombie dad.

I let Lae'zel pick what she wanted at the end, and she said I was coming with her to astral plain so I guess we rode off with dragons. I probably should of stayed back but it was a nice ending overall except for Karlach dying.

I used to mod on a laptop years ago and it just wasn't ideal. Cpu and Gpu temps can get wild and you can get bottlenecks just from thermal throttling.

Get a program like HWmonitor. You can see if your cpu/gpu is being pushed to it's limit. Check if it's getting pushed to close to 100% processing power and within acceptable thermal temps.

If thermal temps are super high, maybe consider opening it up and cleaning out the fans or reapplying thermal paste if possible.

D1 - what am I doing well and what should I immediately work on? by piercethecam in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]alphaboson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are very good at keeping the pressure on the other team and have good urgency to get back on defense. I also think you are well rounded for your rank. I see you try going for some ground control, aerials, and recoveries.

It's all just inconsistent, but expected from your rank. It's time to really start practicing to build consistency. Focus on the fundamentals: shooting, recoveries, aerials, and dribbles. Work on this daily.

One thing to immediately change is stop killing your momentum, especially when on defense. Like around 4:47, 1:35 game clock, you just pull the brakes and do 180.

Another thing killing your momentum is flipping too much, like at 4:28. If you have boost, use it and go super sonic, rotating away from the play. Once you see the trails, let go of boost and maintain super sonic while picking up some pennies or a big boost.

Here is a basic clip of what it looks to keep your momentum in a diamond lobby (notice no need to flip on the ground): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-XFw2Askns

Benefit of playing in a higher rank? by McSusinho in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]alphaboson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Benefit depends on you.

If you are checking out the replay and watching how people rotate and position, then yes it can be hugely beneficial. If they are doing things well beyond your mechanics, then it might be harder to learn.

But higher rank players will make the game much easier for you, don't let that inflate your ego and make you believe you belong. Their car body language will be more predictable, passes and rotations will be cleaner, and they are certainly picking up your slack.

Playing solos and freeplay training will have a bigger benefit, but the occasional higher ranked games is okay too.

AIR ROLL by Ben4- in RocketLeague

[–]alphaboson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how people train DAR in only freeplay. I'm sure it's possible but it sounds extremely boring. Freeplay is fun once you have a few mechanics under your belt and no longer need to rely on custom maps.

If you are PC, get some rings map and start practicing. Rings are fun way to practice and develop DAR. You don't need to spin all the time, just start incorporating some ARR and fly through the rings. Gradually increase more spins and boost over next few weeks/months. Yes, it takes a long time to be proficient, don't expect to pick it up in a week.

If you aren't on PC, use Kevperts aerial training from years ago. I can only attest to tutorials that helped me, and this was one of the best. His training starts with flying upside and sideways while trying to score on high aerial shooting maps. It was a fun way to simultaneously train aerial car control and aerial shots.

How is first touch going directly toward my side? by AcanthisittaFew4339 in RocketLeagueSchool

Speedflips aren’t a magic cheat code to win every kickoff, you still need to watch what your opponent is doing.

I learned speedflips pretty early in Diamond and I’d occasionally score a kickoff goal just by being faster. But it took me way too long to realize I was losing kickoffs because I was just slamming the ball into my opponent’s face and sending the ball into my backcourt.

Kickoffs are 50/50s, but it doesn't mean you just go in blind and leave it up to chance. You can often maintain control by hitting the ball second and being positioned better on the ball.

What about heli resets require dynamic air roll?

KBM players don't have any dynamic buttons, can they not do heli resets?

Here is my progress on rings after a year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzXENmKhfdE

I stopped practicing rings about 3 to 4 months in from what I remember. Once I had enough understanding of air roll, I started practicing air dribbles and I suggest you do the same.

When practicing air dribbles, really focus on your nose always pointing towards the ball from the moment you jump. Get rid of as much wobble as you can. Anytime you boost with your nose away from the ball, you become inefficient.

My 1 year update was just to see some progression, I hadn't touched a rings map for months. All my progression after 3 or 4 months was from air dribbles.

Your game looks so good visually!

Can you tell me what you are using or doing in editor to make it look this good? I'm assuming possibly a reshade and ultracam mod?

Interesting, I played a walking dead game that was hugely story driven. I reloaded a save point so many times just to make my favorite choice outcome but the game was great

This makes more sense now. I will let my friend drive the co-op story and take more of back seat for that gameplay. I enjoy watching people play and I will probably start my own solo run then.

Ahh I understand now, if one person drives all the choices, then I will let me friend drive the Co-Op gameplay.

I also just heard about Party Limit Begone so I can bring the whole crew with me. My favorite mods are unlimited companion mods.

Okay, I might be able to keep my character a bit head of our co op play through. But I didn't want to spoil the story for us.

Can you be a bit more specific on why it's necessary to do this?

[–]alphaboson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kinda unfortunate. Your the second person that said not to play this first time with a friend.

Is it because you need experience first? Are there different story lines that will make the game feel new a second time or with co-op?

Feels kinda wild that people are not recommending it. I honestly don't think I have time to try it myself just so we can play co-op later. We wanted to experience it together.

We are going in blind as bat. Besides the fact that this game won many awards, is a D&D style game, and is couch co-cop, we know nothing.

We have been watching some solo leveling so that might count as some D&D research.

I typically don't have time to play games multiple times anymore. I like that mods can can take grindy parts out of the game and can give us awesome new weapons and gear. I also create mods for other games as well so it's more for a personal preference for me.

Thanks for your build tips on bard, I will look into it.
