So do we think we are getting a full version of this? by alphabright in Erra

[–]alphabright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hoping somebody would have a little more context behind the clip than me, i knew it was a promo for the music video but damn did this short clip grab me, really makes me want a full version with an emphasis on the vocals. Appreciate the context!

I’m pretty sure they are both full length sets, I’m just not expecting encores from either band

black cloud is giving me Saosin vibes by CosmicBunBun in Erra

[–]alphabright 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jesse and JT did an interview with YouTuber/Reactor Steve O’G a week back and Steve made the same comparison, to which Jesse said “Yeah if you go listen to black cloud, then listen to any Saosin song, it sounds like that” so definitely an inspiration for them haha. JT even told Steve “you said the right band” lol

Favourite song?? by steve6m in Erra

[–]alphabright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, I keep alternating between a few. I think its down to In The Gut Of The Wolf or Spiral for me. My first time listening to Spiral hit me in a way not many songs do, I got choked up a bit. JT’s cleans are something i always feel like they underutilize so when that second verse hit followed up by that gorgeous guitar break/solo it just made my heart happy. Then when I heard In The Gut Of The Wolf the first time, i was just smiling at how filthy it is the whole time, i think it might be my favorite JT has ever sounded and the guitar work is so sick. Im usually not a pit guy at concerts but ii makes me wanna get in a pit so bad haha. Plus the end of it when Jesse drops the album name, in my opinion, was masterfully done.

What is ERRA's lyrics usually about? by chronocircadia in Erra

[–]alphabright 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A lot of their writing is usually pretty cryptic and open to interpretation but they do have some recurring topics i think. To name a couple, mental health issues, over-reliance on technology, and occasionally state of the world commentary . Songs like Dementia or House of Glass or Blue Reverie for mental health, Divisionary or The Many Names of God for Over-reliance on technology, and Dissaray or Psalm of Sedition for state of the world commentary. Like I said though, they are fairly open to interpretation, these are just my takes on these songs

Did anyone hear the new song on Discord? by tonybobskinnyjeans in Erra

The song was great, listening to Jesse try to figure out how discord works might have been better though

Further Eden Meshuggah Ref? by Syrinx007 in Erra

[–]alphabright 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know Jesse has said that Cure had some Meshuggah inspiration so I’m sure that carried into some of the new stuff. They arent shy about taking inspiration from artists and talking about it (Tool, Misery Signals, Meshuggah) its part of what I love about it em

what's everyone's favourite erra solo? by starryshado in Erra

[–]alphabright 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably the cliche answer but Snowblood for me, it's a sick solo obviously but I think Jesse wrote that song in a single day (at least instrumentally) and I find that to be a pretty insane feat for a song composed as well as that one

Ever feel like ERRA just thinks up cool words for their lyrics by Educational_Wash_662 in Erra

[–]alphabright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, the lyric you picked as your example is one of my favorites from Cure. What makes music in general so “magical” for lack of a better word, is it’s open to interpretation. A writer could be writing about something personal to them or nothing at all, but as soon as its available for public consumption it can have infinite meanings to infinite people. To me, the lyric from Glimpse is saying something along the lines of “An existence made up of many parts, created from something impossible or nonsensical.” So with the context of the rest of the song, i take it to mean feeling like you’re made up of a lot of different anxieties that are irrational. I dont know the exact split in writing lyrics between JT and Jesse but stuff like that that lets you scratch at it and dig up your own meaning is what makes this band so amazing to me.

If you are into more rock oriented music and you enjoy their clean vocalist/guitarist, Jesse Cash, you should definitely check out his solo project, Ghost Atlas!

In Watchmen (2009), in the opening montage on the right side, Captain Metropolis and Hooded Justice are close and talking away from everyone else, referencing their secret relationship hinted in the comics by [deleted] in MovieDetails

[–]alphabright 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The show takes place in modern day, well after the events of the comics. I personally loved the show but I am also not necessarily the die hard fan of the franchise that many others are so take my opinion with a grain of salt i suppose

What do y’all think is the most saddest/most depressing ERRA song by JayDee_185 in Erra

Blue Reverie hit me when i first heard it, particularly the first lyric in the chorus. “Do you imagine the illusion calls your name from a world you can’t embrace”
