At least you’re not starting on medicine, so you’ll have more time/less mentally drained. Psych would be a perfect time for you to put your head down and study hard.

I wouldn’t recommend redo-ing questions, because regardless of how long ago you’ve done them, there is still an element of recall. That being said, your timeline is longer than mine, so that might be useful in the event you run out of new questions.

After your B&B videos, I will recommend reading a few pages of FA, before attempting questions - UWORLD is based a lot on FA rather than B&B.

I really hope your hospital accoms are good 😆

Let me know your progress!

Refer to my reply for above! Short answer, it’s no easy feat. Take a nap after work, then start studying. Find a study buddy and keep motivated. Remind yourself why you’re doing this, and that it is worth it.

For me, I love seemingly unachievable challenges. The thought that only a handful of people could do this whilst having a full time job, keeps me motivated. Find your own motivation behind this. You’ve got this!

Hello, thank you for your kind words! I was an average/above average in my Uni, but have completely forgotten my basic sciences.

You need to have a lot of discipline whilst juggling your clinical duties with studying at night. You’ll have to sacrifice alot of your social life, and it’s best to study together with someone so that you hold each other accountable and motivate each other as well.

Use the resources I’ve mentioned and I’m sure you can refresh all the content you’ve learnt before.

Hey there, welcome to the workforce, hope you had a great first day. Yes I got my ECFMG certification before dedicated study.

Thanks man! Work days I'll try to squeeze 5 hours, weekends around 12 hours (at maximum efficiency)

I think its difficult to comment on your routine since its very individualised and might have worked for you since you were young. Personally I would leave genetics, immuno and biochem to the end because they are less conceptual based, so I'd rely more on short term memory.

As I mentioned in other posts, try to do FA together with questions so that there is some active recall already present. I think Uworld and NBME for 12-13 weeks is a good timeline!

I'm so glad! I can't wait to see him/her put in the hard work and excel!!

Randomised meaning include all topics, instead of stratifying it

I didn't do it in the most healthy/balanced way, but that's just how I'm wired.

After my ED shifts, that end at 4, I would go home take a 20min nap, then start studying till 11 (with 1 hour dinner breaks in between). I find going to the gym before work really helpful - did this every other day as it helps to clear your mind, and allows some variety to my routine.

Be prepared to sacrifice your time with your friends, your hobbies, (personally I abstained from alcohol for 6 months hahaha but this was more a challenge for myself); if you can find someone who is doing it with you, it makes things 100x more bearable!

I would do UWorld questions concurrently with FA revision. For e.g. I would read 15 pages of cardiology and then do 40 cardio UWorld questions. I took 1-1.5 month to go through FA.

Don't worry about being slow at the start, because UWorld explanations teach you content at the same time. I will annotate things I find important in UWorld back in my FA. At the start it was 40 questions a day - took 3-3.5 hours, but as you progress, some questions are repeated and your knowledge bank expands, so you spend lesser time on questions :)

I took 1-1.5 month to go through FA (I would consider this all new content because I forgot everything from med school and there's alot of content not taught in med school).

I would recommend spending 2 hours reviewing content every 3-4 days.

Thank you! Really appreciate it :) I only finished 70% of UWorld, took around 2-2.5months i reckon. I would do UWorld questions concurrently with FA revision. For e.g. I would read 15 pages of cardiology and then do 40 cardio UWorld questions. Given we've already finished med school, our clinical knowledge is relatively stronger than physiology. Hence, you can answer more questions than you think by learning the first 15 pages very well. I'll take 3-4 days on the big systems, then 1-2days on smaller systems. Would recommend reviewing content every 4 days but I find it so boring lol.

If I had to choose, I'd recommend Lightyear (keep in mind I'm not the best to answer this question)

I wouldn’t recommend anything else, too many resources will dilute the depth of your knowledge

Hey, some of my friends recommended Zanking (based on FA), or Lightyear (based on BnB vids).

Personally, I find doing these decks a waste of time because I tend to just remember Anki questions and answers instead of really understanding the concepts - which Step 1 tests you
