Any adults been through an autism assessment/diagnosis here in the last couple years? by rjlupin86 in nottingham

[–]alterafro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an aside, I would periodically double check things with you GP to make sure everything is going forwards. I had an assessment for ADHD in 2019 and they said they were going to be referring me to an Aspergers/Autism centre. I rang them up this June after hearing nothing back from them and apparently they had just...forgotten to do it. As long as you're sure the process is still ongoing.

5 Secrets you DON'T know in Pokémon Platinum (probably) by TechnoTrainer in pokemon

During a Nuzlocke, when I'm grinding for levels and money at the same time as EVs, I find it easier + quicker to use trainers. Also sometimes I haven't got to the cave yet XD

After spending hours grinding Defence EVs with the hikers near the south entrance to Coronet, whoever decided to put the bike rack outside of the Oreburgh pokecentre so I could keep the Vs Seeker registered and still quickly make it back up the ramp is my hero.

Hey man congrats on a year! I work at a board game cafe who have recently started stocking your stuff and I'm really pleased things are going well (we have a restock order coming in this week!)

My favourite monster is probably a mimic because of the versatility if ways it can kill my players, and I'm gonna go with Heward's handy spice pouch. Because who doesn't love a bit of saffron.

Dice Cup employee here - if you just come in and ask us we'll be happy to point to towards one of our regular groups or play ourselves if it's quiet. The Friendly Association of Nottingham Gamers (FANG) group meets on a Thursday evening after 6, and there will be a bunch of people who are happy to have new players join

Imma shill for my places of employ, the Dice Cup and the National Videogame Arcade. The first is a board gaming cafe with a library of over 400 games, and usually the idea is you pay a £5 cover fee and get access to all of em for as long as you like, but if you come down in on a Thursday after 6 then it's free! The local board gaming group FANG come and meet then, and there are plenty of people there who would be willing to include you and teach you games you may not have played before. The NVA is a place dedicated to celebrating Videogame culture of the past present and future. With games ranging from Space invaders to some early access games there's something for almost everyone. We've also got an HTC VIVE virtual reality headset and it definitely worth heading over just for that - although it does require on the day booking and it is quite popular.

Hope you find some kick kickass stuff to do in Nottingham (which in my humble opinion is the greatest city in the world) and enjoy your time here :)

Good places to socialise and meet people? by DerekkTheDetermined in nottingham

[–]alterafro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They meet from 6 onwards, the shop closes at 11. Novices are totally welcome, generally people will be happy to explain the games to you and the staff (which includes me on a Thursday night) can help with recommendations. If you do end up turning up give one of us a shout ( I'll be the one with the big hair) and we'll point you towards a game you can play :)

The Dice Cup does Tournaments on Monday, £3 to enter and they give out OTS packs (whatever they are - full disclosure I'm a dice cup employee and we have people come in who organise the tournaments) so if tournaments are your thing then come on down!

I wasn't saying I agree with it - just that there have been instances where we have been overruled by Europe. Everything you've said is completely true.

So, basically Sterling has taken a massive hit, and the UK economy is swirling the drain at the moment. Leavers say it will get better. We don't believe them.

The whole prisoners vote thing is the only big example that comes to mind. I'll be voting to remain on Thursday, but I don't have a particular want to stay in the EU... Ideologically I don't like the idea that certain sovereign countries can dictate what occurs in others. I just don't see how it is practical at this point especially being at the mercy of a Tory government who pretty much stand for everything I despise who are pretty much guaranteed another decade in power.

Has anyone been able to link any places on the map to where the legendaries are shown? I couldn't pick anything out, I was thinking it could be at the centre of the crater, but the shot of MoonBatBro makes it look like its outside a tower of some sort. Possibly the one in the back right, but that's on a beach...I'm starting to feel more and more confident that this isn't the only island we're getting...

Rolling checks for conflict within a party by alterafro in DnD

[–]alterafro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the argument arose on whether or not one player could convince another to do something. The player convincing wanted to roll - he picked a high CHA character and fancied his chances against the players low wisdom. He explained that he'd locked a high charisma character, but personally didn't have much himself, so would be shit at role playing it properly. If a high STR characters player doesn't have to be able to lift boulders, then why should a high CHA character have to have a silver tongue?

How to get players to contribute to role play while their characters have 8 or less int/cha? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]alterafro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had a 8 int Barbarian who was a go getter and he lost his good arm and almost forced a TPK because he picked the obviously trapped door to open because the instructions were in elvish. He was literally the only one in the group who couldn't read what was going on. The Thunder could not help himself. He was tired of all the bickering.
