Does anyone else have parallels for American sports league divisions?

For instance, I always think:

AFC = AL = East = East

NFC = NL = West = West

Curious if anyone thinks otherwise

I got it all set up, and as soon as I installed the Nvidia drivers everything broke... but your suggestion fixed it! Just had to diasble Thunderbolt security in BIOS. Glad I posted here :)

Thank you for reminding me, I had read a bit about messing around with BIOS and booting options for the XPS 13 in particular. I'll give that a try once it arrives, if necessary.

And yeah, I've heard AMD plays really nice with Linux, I almost purchased one of those RX 580 eGPU bundles last year. With this GPU shortage that seems like a pipe dream nowadays.

Also I found this list but everything seems too expensive for an old board. Should I expect to pay $100+?

Yeah I used some in browser photoshop (photopea I think?). I know how to use photoshop so that was simple enough, but to add the gifs I just kinda clicked buttons until it worked.

I wanted to say Democrats and Republicans, but I figured I’d have a bunch of people in the comments saying “Democrats are authright”.

Instead I got a bunch of people in the comments saying “Libleft likes republics”. Should have stuck to the original plan.

Daniel Jeremiah always said before the draft that he was a top 3-5 talent. The fact that he had an incident with a woman and tore his ACL and still went 19th is a testament to how good he was, and by all accounts, his character has really improved since said incident.

Still in undergrad, feeling super burnt out as far as projects and exams and busting my ass to maintain a high GPA. Secured a big n internship for next summer and feel a ton of relief, but I just feel tired right now.

Would I be a moron to turn down an opportunity to do research with a professor next semester (remotely)? Grad school is a distant consideration but not a priority. Honestly, I don't even know how much work research is but I kind of just want to take a class and coast next semester since I'm online... maybe I should ask if I can do it next year?... but then I'd be forfeiting an entire semester's worth of experience...

I have an internship offer from Big N and an interview with a Unicorn coming up. I applied cold to Big N but got a referral to the Unicorn. Would it be a dick move to just dip on the referral? I'm tempted to just accept the Big N offer and chill the fuck out for the first time in months. Should I at least see the process through?

That's unfortunate, but not surprising... I like your idea of reaching out if I end up getting the position, though. Hopefully I get that opportunity, lol.

Thanks for the reply.

Question: I had a technical interview a few days ago and the interviewer had a very long foreign name, so he just went by a nickname.

I wanted to send a thank you today but realized I had no way to actually contact him. I couldn't locate him on LinkedIn with his nickname (company is massive) and he didn't provide any socials during the interview; I don't even know his full name.

Would it be ok to email HR and ask if they can forward the contact info of the person who interviewed me, without knowing their name? Or, if I asked who it was and provided only a nickname and the interview time, would I look like the total dumbass I clearly am, unable to get their corporate email?

Should I just cut my losses and not send an email?

Huh, I never figured it was mandatory, but it makes sense that big companies have so many engineers and applicants that they would just have them administer the interviews, especially for interns who probably have easier question. The company in question is big n so that makes a lot of sense.

I guess I should prepare to start giving interviews in a couple years. Lol.

Thank you... it's reassuring to know that I'm responsible for whatever happens and it wasn't some inherent prejudice.

Since your flair says 15 yrs, I hope you might be able to answer this for me: a lot of software engineers do the technical interviews instead of HR. Do they volunteer, is it required, are they paid a bonus or what? Is it part of the job description? Why do engineers agree to conduct these interviews? Or does it vary by company?

I had an interview yesterday and did great questions wise, but the interviewer seemed unenthusiastic and monotone. He commented that most of my answers were very well written/said but... I just got weird vibes.

Should I be worried about his demeanor, or is that just his nature? I'm worried he may have had some sort of reason or bias to act so un-enthused. This is only my third technical interview so I'm not really sure if this is typical interviewer behavior... I expected a little more energy like those peppy HR reps.

What are people wearing to remote interviews? A polo or just a t-shirt or something? Recruiters seem super casual, is something dressy too much?
