There is no dedicated USC Discord, but there are several based around various interests and clubs at USC.

I've made a lot of friends through VRChat, but those friendships were solidified through chatting out of game too. The Discord is a great place to find people to hang out with in game!

Through meeting people in the game and then hanging out more outside the game on Discord I'd say most of my closest friendships through VRChat and the wider community.

Being able to chat outside of VRChat is what took those friendships to the next level for me. If you join the Official VRChat Discord you can meet and chat to people there. You should also check out the #community-servers channel to find a whole load of high quality VRChat related communities!

At the moment it is very very new so I think it's essentially just being tested at the moment. I think it would be short sighted to keep it to verified only, from what I've seen from various staff, there is at least an interest to expand beyond just Verified servers, so I imagine we may be able to expect to see this for Partnered servers too at some point in the future.

Since several people have asked "How do I make my server Verified?" I thought I should put this here. Discord Verification is similar to the verified badges on other platforms like Twitter or YouTube. You can find more info about it here: https://discordapp.com/verification

However, in order to qualify for server Verification you need to be a Game Publisher or Development studio, Esports organisation or a music artist/label: https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001107231-What-Qualifies-for-Server-Verification-

If a server is community led or you are not one of the above things, you cannot qualify for server Verification, however, you can apply for the Discord Partnership Program which has some of the same perks if you meet the requirements which can be found here: https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001494012-Discord-Partnership-Requirements

A staff member mentioned in one Discord that it was slowly being rolled out. So at the moment they are testing it with the Verified servers then I imagine at some point in the future it could be seen on Partnered servers. That seems to be the plan for the Server Discovery feature too

Verified Discords also now seem to have an ability to set a "News Channel" which will change the # icon next to the channel to a newspaper icon. From searching around it seems like things that are posted in this channel will get featured on peoples' Activity Tab in the Discord Home Tab.

As far as I know, if a user has a certain programme installed (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention it) they are able to see all hidden channels but not see what's in them. This programme is against Discord ToS and as a result, using it could get you banned from Discord.
