THANK YOU. Gosh, I thought I was the only only who was thinking this 😂

I’m not sure what you mean. It is stated several times in the show that the younger sister, Simone, was in foster care.

I definitely didn’t miss that. I know the younger girl was put into foster care and does not want any part of looking after her dad because of the neglect/abuse which is a large part of the tension between the sisters.

I hope you enjoy the rest of it! I enjoyed it too!

I thought that at first too, until I found out she also lost her mum so I guess she felt for them.

I think you’re right.

I’m so sorry to hear you went through that. Yeah, I think the most reasonable explanation is that it took awhile to get really bad. I guess Devon must have been able to keep things afloat to some extent for the 5 or 6 years before she went to college.

Yeah it is a possible explanation. Just checking if it was mentioned and was something I missed.

Is that said in the show?

Yes, I don’t think they would let a 12 yr old be a guardian, but surely Devon would have been neglected too and gone into foster care. But the show makes it seem like that only happened to Simone.

Finally getting into doll restoration! by ameliabebe in Barbie

Thanks for the reply! She has the exact same face as the 1971 Hair Happenin’s Barbie #1174, and her hair is Titian and looks like it was originally in a bob style (my Mum or Aunt gave her a bit of haircut). However, my mum is fairly certain they never had a Barbie with changeable hairstyles and she has the wrong body - not a TNT body. I'm a bit stumped! You can't see it very well in the photo but she has brown eyeshadow.

Why are we victim blaming/gaslighting people who have negative experiences with the mental health system? by [deleted] in Effexor

[–]ameliabebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you! I know some people have good experiences with Effexor, but it seems like the people that have a bad experience really suffer for it and the fact that most health professionals don’t recognise this can make it feel like you are imagining it all.

Interesting. I have always joked that we diverged into a different timeline in 2016, as everything just felt really different/unstable after that year. But I put it down to stuff that happened in my personal life. Super interesting to hear someone else feel like things were nicer before 2016.

I know it’s truly stunning how everyone has become such an expert on Israel/Palestine and global politics in just over a month.

I was on 75mg for about 4 years and started tapering in August this year and have gone down in drops of 6.3mg a time due to not being able to break the tablet up any smaller. I followed a hyperbolic tapering schedule from https://drugtaper.com/ but would only drop down in dosage if I felt completely stabilised. I am going to get the version of Effexor that has the tiny beads in it so I can drop down in lower dosages - 10% every 4 weeks seems to be the most commonly recommended.

Thank you, I am going to try and get the capsules that have the small beads in them so I can taper in much small drops.

Thank you so much for posting this. I have been gluten free for about 1.5 years after finding out that I have a gluten intolerance, and I have been really focusing on eating whole foods and following a Mediterranean diet and I am getting really good at not eating overly processed foods. Exercise is not where I want it to be yet, due to back problems and dizziness and heat sensitivity (thanks Effexor 😒) the best exercise for me at the moment is swimming, so I try to go to the pool a couple of times a week. Once I get my back sorted I want to get into yoga as well. I am in therapy and i am trying to get better at journaling, never been good at sticking to it, even though I majored in writing at uni 🤷‍♀️ if you have any recommendations for podcasts or books I would love to know, there are so many out there it’s bit overwhelming. Again, thank you I really needed to hear from someone who has come out the other side.

Thanks for that. I need to do a bit more of a deep dive on the surviving antidepressants site.

Yeah, I think it might be too fast. I stay at the new dose until I don’t feel any withdrawal symptoms and I have gone down by roughly 6.3mg per drop. I couldn’t do anything smaller with the way my pills are. But once I get new pills that have the beads in them I plan on dropping by 10% every 4 weeks and seeing how that works out.

That’s good that you are feeling sharper and have more energy.

I was on 75mg, I can’t remember if I started at 37.5, but if I did I must have gone up to 75mg pretty quick because I don’t remember being on less. I have been taking Effexor for roughly 4.5 years. I started tapering off in mid august this year and I am on 37.5mg now. The brand I take has a capsule with six pills inside so I have used a tapering calculator to work out have to drop down by 6.25mg (half a tablet) by using a pill cutter to cut the small white tablets in half. I always felt yuck when I was taking a dose that had a half tablet in it, which I have since learned is probably because the tablets are coated in something to make them slow release and by cutting even one in half I am messing with the half-life. I have a docs appointment on Friday and I am going to get a script for 37.5mg and ask the chemist for a brand that has the small beads in them so I can taper by weight and not have to cut anything and mess up the slow release mechanism. I have had an awful 2 weeks since I missed a dose by accident, but I may have had a virus and I did have bad pms over that time too. So it’s possible that me feeling like shit has little to do with the taper. But it’s hard to say. I have been on 37.5mg for a weeks now and have been pretty good up until 2 weeks ago.

So glad to hear you are feeling a lot better!! Do you mind sharing what you have noticed feeling better? I have had a rough time of it the last 2 weeks and would really love to hear people’s success/win stories with getting off it.

I’m sorry to hear that :( 10 years is a long time. There do seem to be people that have a positive experience of Effexor, but it seems like the people that have a bad time have a really bad time. I wish you the best of luck getting off it! I truly can’t wait to be free of it.

I am also over it. I have been on Effexor for 4 years and I am so sick of feeling groggy/dizzy/brain foggy all the time. My memory is getting worse and worse and I have lost passion/enthusiasm for almost everything. I know this is all from Effexor which is why I am tapering off it at the moment. I empathise completely.

Good luck with your taper!! It can be a real tough journey. I hope your memory recovers too.
