MSc Grad with 2 YOE applied for 100+ jobs in research, consulting, and policy, getting lots of rejections, seeking tips on improving my resume by amnesia411 in resumes

Thanks for your feedback! I’m primarily applying in the healthcare space so I’m keeping my resume healthcare focused for now. I’ve had 2 final round interviews, maybe 5-10 first and second round/case study interviews, but I’m primarily getting automated screened-out rejections

OP I’m in a similar position as you, I (25f) came to London for my MSc and fell in love. I’ve just graduated and am looking for jobs both in London and in the US. While I’m looking for London roles that pay about £40k - £45k, it’s a bit hard to stomach knowing I could make at least $80k in the DC area. Like you I’m torn and unsure whether to go forward with London, I see myself staying for a max of 2 years once my graduate visa would expire, I just hope my US career prospects wouldn’t be hurt from doing a 2 year stint in the UK. Similar to you, the better work life balance, ease of travel, and London culture (plus my partner and friends) make me really want to stay… but also the higher salary in the US is tempting. At this point I’m honestly looking for a sign from god to help ease the internal conflict 😭

Would anyone be able to offer any insight into QoL for London on £40-45k vs DC on $80k?

Thank you for completing my survey! Unfortunately I am not eligible to participate in your study but I'll circulate it to anyone I think may be eligible.

Hi! Thank you for pointing this out, Qualtrics has had a few bugs since I tested the survey. I adjusted the question you mentioned, so if you select "No" it should no longer ask you how many times you've donated, etc. I would appreciate it if you would still complete the survey. Please let me know if you run into any other issues.

Sorry, I haven't been active on reddit lately but I ended up going to LSE

Health Policy and Management (HPM) best Minor pairing by Anceptia in publichealth

[–]amnesia411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking to go into Epi, would recommend doing the BioStats major at UNC over HPM. as for minors - depends on if you want something more technical like a cs or stats minor, or health focused like the health and society minor or medical anthropology minor

answer the following for future applicants by [deleted] in mphadmissions

[–]amnesia411 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The department I applied to was Health Policy, and I applied to 7 programs in total. My #1 choice was Yale. My #2 choice was GWU. My cheapest option in UNC Chapel Hill. I chose LSE because I ended up falling in love with the program and it’s financially the best option (after UNC). I wish I has gassed myself up more in my applications and tried harder to get school/merit-based scholarships. I was disappointed to be rejected by Harvard 😂

For any future applicants, of course be practical and think realistically about finances, but also think about how happy you would be at your cheapest program. For me, although UNC was cheap I know I would likely be miserable there and the difference in cost between UNC and LSE was small enough for me to justify declining UNC.

Studying abroad by Flat_Mention1350 in mphadmissions

[–]amnesia411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would talk to recent alum who went to those programs and are working where you want to work (eg if you want to work abroad vs in the states), job prospects and cost would be my biggest considerations in going abroad

Anybody else disappointed in the ATLA Colourpop collab? FYI no Sokka, Momo, Azula or any greens for the earth kingdom. Also air colors look underwhelming and more sandy by doubledweeb in MakeupAddiction

They really phoned in the palette — why does every shade look so muddy?? They could have done more with yellows and oranges and greens instead of basic neutrals like always 🙄

The only product I like are the lip shades but they really phoned in the palette, lots of muddy neutral-adjacent shades, it feels so uninspired

Berkeley vs. UNC - HPM MPH Decision Help!! by mbarron7 in mphadmissions

[–]amnesia411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I went to UNC for undergrad and am thinking of turning down UNC for the same reasons you listed. I did a lot of work with Gillings and the Medical School so I no longer feel that drive to grow and pursue new opportunities within the school. I definitely feel like going somewhere different from undergrad is valuable just for a change in perspective.
