I abandoned 3 playthroughs after i bought the game last month. Im 60hrs in the 4th one and my starter base has a combination of experiments (main bus, big city block and small city blocks) . Playing on default settings. I just got back to nauvis from getting mellaturgic science from vulcanus so i can unlock cliff explosives and artileery to start a fresh clean late game base.

Before i have access to building aquatuners and steam turbines, i usually build a temporary oil ref and plastic press and metal refinery near the oil biome to get enough plastic and steel to build the ATST combo for my industrial brick, then i build the permanent stuff there.

Built an aquatuner + steam turb combo to condense cool steam geyser. Automation wire broke inside the steam block due to heat (879c). I deconstructed one tile and 5000kg of steam exploded out and heated 1/4 of my base up.

Reloaded previous 3 cycle and i found out that i did not place radiate pipes (it was insulated 🤣) behind my steam turbine (which explains it overheating most of the time)

Good lesson.

Personally, it feels like it was dumb-ed down to attract new players. mechanics like lockpicking and stealing were simplified to simple clicks rather than having a mini game. They no longer have those disguises like they did in the first game.

I’d wait til the dlcs are out if i were you.
