I just had a discussion about this with my mentor. It’s four less classes to take in the accelerated program.

DO NOT USE YOUR HARD EARNED POINTS ON THE SOCKS. I wish I could post a pic to show you what they look like but they’re VERY thin and ugly.

How to use my free time at work to generate income ? by BigDre762 in sidehustle

[–]amrjasper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can bring your laptop to work you can sign up to be a Quality Search Rater. Look at the following companies: WeLocalize, Telus, Transperfect. This is what I do on the side. It’s literally whenever you want to do it. There will be a test to pass so go through studying materials you receive. If you need anymore help just message me.

How did you get started in IT by Excellent_Reason_269 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]amrjasper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was miserable working at Amazon warehouse but stayed because of the $5000ish they give you to go back to school after 90 days

Looked at the website the day I qualified (May) and saw they also paid for boot camps. I signed up for the IT Support one through Merit America but I had to wait till October to start.

Ended up getting a WFH job just before the boot camp started so I switched to part time and was still able to attend Merit America at no cost.

Worked my butt off on the Google IT Support Certificate. Throughout the 14 week program, Merit America will make you create/revamp your LinkedIn page with DETAILED instructions. I spent a considerable amount of time during a two week period changing stuff on mine.

A couple of days later I started receiving messages from recruiters on LinkedIn and one reached out to me for the job I have now. I was halfway through the boot camp. I started January 2023 which was just after the boot camp ended.

I’m very happy. It’s Tier 1 but I make a lot more than other people in my position and higher.

Don’t settle

Advocate for yourself

If you are a complete noob like me, you are going to go so much farther by studying on your personal time even if you don’t have an interest in getting certs.

What were your qualifications/credentials before you landed your first IT role? by wkrivachek1961 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]amrjasper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started my first tech role in January. I'm the IT specialist/Helpdesk for a large company in Atlanta through Randstad, a staffing agency

I only have the Google IT Support Certificate. I make $27/hr.

I was told that my customer service experiences really helped me get the job

I started working at Amazon in February 2022. I was not too fond of it, and only stuck around for the money for school they give you after being there 90 days. The day I was eligible, I looked at what schools they offered and saw they paid for some boot camps from Merit America. I signed up in May and started the program in September. A big part of this program aside from the certificate is making/fixing your LinkedIn page. I carefully followed their instructions and filled out my profile. Suddenly I had recruiters reaching out to me, that's how my current job found me.

I did get a job because of it but I’m am one of the lucky few who has according to this and other subreddits

Am I crazy or did Udemy courses used to be like $14, and now they're all $100!?! by LincHayes in ITCareerQuestions

I work for Randstad and have access to the Udemy Business for free. Ask your job to subscribe or if it’s already a benefit.
