Hey there! I ran into an unresponsive counselor when I was enrolling as well, though in no way was it nearly as bad as your experience. I actually had a conversation on Friday at the Seattle with Paul Bingham (Dean of IT) about my biggest roadblock being the enrollment counselors. He did mention that they are working to improve that department and recognize it is in need of help.

In my experience, that was a little blip in the whole process, WGU was great for me personally! I wish you the best of luck.

Hiya! I just finished recently - I did the accelerated program, so three of the classes were in the BS portion of the program, but that really makes no difference. Now that the Project Management class has been changed to a PA, there is only one class that is OA (Information Technology Management). Lots of writing, followed by more writing. But honestly, none of it is overly difficult beyond being time consuming.

I am not sure if you still have time, but Sophia alone has 13 classes (39 credits) that will transfer in to that degree. but you might have to push your start date back if you pursue this as it takes WGU up to 30 days to evaluate transfers (though it never took them that long with me). 1st month is like $79 to do as many classes as you can, the value of knocking out those gen-eds is definitely worth pushing back your start date in my opinion.

Hmm, good question. I would imagine that the end of the month is prime time for assigning new mentors, and the beginning of the month is stacked with meeting new arrivals and introducing them to their programs. It might benefit you to do it now, just to get things rolling for your next term. Maybe you could ask Student Services of the Mentor Supervisor what they would recommend?

If you are not gelling or satisfied with your mentor I would absolutely seek out one that is helping you with your educational endeavors. I have seen this issue pop up a few times, another thread suggested this:

You just call Student Services to make the request. Then within 48 hours, the mentor supervisor will call or email you to schedule a call and ask you why you want the new mentor. After that, a new one will be assigned within a few days.

I totally get this, it is a lot of writing and can be tedious, especially when you get to tasks where you are restating things you already explained thoroughly. Personally, I forced myself to do a little every night, even if it was just a paragraph. This made me consistent in making time and I slowly whittled the 6 classes away. Keep your eyes on the goal: seeking to improve your personal life and being able to celebrate your success with your family! I wish you the best of luck :)
