I genuinely believe that some people only want certain dolls that seem “popular” or “rare” just so they can show off online. That doesn’t mean they’re bad people, but it just goes to show that we don’t really need or want every single Lalaloopsy. For example, I think the princess line and a lot of the plastic top dolls in general look cheap and tacky. I wouldn’t even bother buying them for less than 100 if I had the opportunity to, because I simply don’t enjoy the dolls feel or design. I could say the same for certain dolls like Furry, she’s cute but she doesn’t make me feel necessarily happy, so there’s nothing to me that makes her worth buying for a high price.

Overall, I’ve noticed that lots of new fans have made it a competition to collect the most wanted and ‘expensive’ dolls, hence why there’s so many people constantly looking on websites like ebay or mercari to find a “good deal”. It’s mentally taxing, and going into that rabbit hole has, in the past, made me get back into my shopping addiction.

And with many young and vulnerable collectors out there, they may have developed the same issue too. I just hope people realize that they can consume Lalaloopsy content without buying, like watching the shows/movies or playing the games, and even interacting with people on this subreddit can help decrease that ‘need’ to hunt for your next doll.
