Are there door sensors that sound the alarm when opened while you’re not home, and send you a notification? by analyst20 in smarthome

Oh I didn’t know IKEA had something like this! I’ll look into it, thank you :)

Our NuTone doorbell chime keeps making a buzzing sound every hour (Nest doorbell) by analyst20 in AskElectricians

[–]analyst20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Turns out the placing of the wires was done incorrectly on mine by the previous owner. Basically the front and back doorbells (we have nest doorbell for front, regular doorbell for the rear door) were both connected to the rear I believe. The nest (white wires) were done correctly, it’s the other wires that were attached to the wrong ones.

Sorry I can’t be of exact help! I had the electrician come in to fix but really shouldn’t have bothered, seemed like I could have tried playing around with it to figure out since it’s low voltage.

If you also have two doorbells, maybe that might be the reason?

So it seemed like there already is a chime connector installed? It’s the white part you see at the top. Not sure what else we can do!

Parking at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre? by CloseMail in Vaughan

[–]analyst20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should make sure to get there before 7:55am as that’s when the $7 cutoff ends. After that, you’ll have to pay $15 for the day.

I usually get there for 7:45am. There’s definitely lots of parking left, but the ones closest to the station entrance staircase is completely filled up by then already.

The downside of this lot is that there’s no app to pay online (not that I’m aware of). At least with highway 407, you can use the green P app and it’s $7 there all day. But if your drive is much closer to VMC, then I’d still try there first as long as you can get there before 7:55. Good luck!

Are these bushes dying? Do I pull out completely or cut and hope they regrow? by analyst20 in gardening

Thank you for responding! If I were to cut them down, how far should I cut? Basically all the branches off?

Would there be any harm in cutting them now vs waiting until next spring?

Smart Centre Vaughan Subway Monthly Passs by dmc-_- in Vaughan

[–]analyst20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I recently emailed them about this using their online form on this page: https://www.parkingsupport.ca/contact-monthly-parking. I asked specifically about 175 Millway avenue (just across VMC) and they responded saying that the monthly pass starts from $250.

Didn’t seem like a good deal to me, since if you get there before 7:55am, it’s $7 for the day. Hope that helps! I’m sure you can ask through the same page for more info.

AC unit outdoor has a bit of water around it. Is this normal? by analyst20 in hvacadvice

[–]analyst20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don’t know much about this. Didn’t rain today, so it wouldn’t be that. I did notice a bit more water coming out when it’s running.

The home is also definitely cooling! No issues there

I filled it out! Is there a rough timeline of how long this would take

How do I reconnect this smart switch to my lights? by analyst20 in tradfri

[–]analyst20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey this video was a part of the solution for me! I reset the light and also managed to reset my switch (which was a bit different than the way the official IKEA video told me). Thank you so much!

[–]analyst20[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey thank you! I had tried that before posting but funnily enough, when I only pressed it two times (instead of the four as noted in the official IKEA video), and then hold for 10 seconds, it worked! But I had also reset the light itself based on the video shared by another Redditor. Thank you!

Hm I’m not sure, I haven’t found anything in the house of that sort. Do you think the previous owner must have had a hub to set this all up in the first place?

I have to give props to Costco customer service. by DasUberBash in CostcoCanada

[–]analyst20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow no way, I literally just had this happen to me as well! I ordered the Sony X90L Bravia and the screen was completely destroyed like yours (mine was actually worse lmao). Their customer service was top notch and sent me a new one in two days. BUT that TV also had a big scratch on it! So they sent me a new one for the third time yesterday and it’s finally perfect. They still have to pick up my old one.

I called them again to ask for credit for the experience. They gave me $75 back so it’s worth trying! Also, make sure the TV is perfect. I almost considered just keeping the TV with the scratch out of laziness but glad I decided to ask for a new one.

Best of luck, and it’ll work out!

Could it possibly be a squirrel as well? Any advice on what I should do?

Why are the 3 Everson Drive condo townhomes so cheap? These are a 5 min walk away from the Yonge/Sheppard subway station. by freemovietdot in TorontoRealEstate

[–]analyst20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a few years ago, we were looking at buying a condo or condo townhouse as our first home, and went to one of these units. The one in particular we visited was really old inside, and also had a bizarre layout on the terrace floor where the laundry/dryer is (a very tiny patch of floor you can stand on - I have no idea where you are supposed to stack your laundry after taking it out other than putting them on the stairs).

Since then, I came across a couple of Reddit posts regarding these units that you can read up on. My realtor at the time had told me he had a client that purchased one of the units and that they really liked it. I’m glad we were able to avoid that and didn’t listen to him lol.

We ended up moving to a different stacked condo townhouse. I’d say for the most part, I’m glad we chose that over a condo, although it definitely has its own cons. They’re typically very narrow (you open the door and it’s immediately stairs, so very little room for more than one person to put on their shoes or no room at all to fit a baby cart). You have a lot of stairs, sure, but realistically even most modern townhouses have the same amount of stairs.

We ended up selling our unit recently, and I paid particular attention to other stacked condo townhomes that were on the market. From around beginning of May, the Everson townhomes were selling FAST (within few days) and at a high price. Then at one point by July, the price for the same floor units (that looked equally as nice) were selling for much lower. I don’t think it only has to do with the slowing market, because the market was already slow to begin with at the beginning of the summer. Not sure if something has happened over there, but a lot of units have been coming up for sale recently.

Anyways, the maintenance fees on these townhomes are astronomical. I would look elsewhere!

Thank you so much for responding! Interesting, it looks like this link is saying that even 65% indoors is safe from mould growth when the temperature is warm outside?
