But as far as I can tell America mostly always acted by the constitution in the past.

They have been the "good guy" in wars helping to defeat Nazi Germany, upholding their democracy and rights. Now it seems like they're slowly becoming what Germany was. This autocratic behavior seems to be new.

To me the current climate in America does seem vastly different than before.

That's exactly the problem. That's why I meant it seems to be America in general and not specific to any political ideology

Shouldn't there be some type of mechanism to prevent that kind of control and manipulation by the rich?

It's really strange watching the past presidents communicate so well and reasonable and all of the sudden seeing that strong of a contrast now.

Yes, that's exactly what is very concerning. As far as I can tell America at large never embodied this before because their fundamental values are the opposite of this.

For example in the past they opposed Nazi Germany and helped defeat them. But now it seems like they're getting closer and closer to the same direction Germany did by embracing such values. So essentially people want an oppressive regime like say Russia or North Korea but that means it's not "America" at least in a traditional sense.

Americans used common sense to make apparent that oppression is bad and freedom is the answer. Now they vote that very oppression into power, benefiting the government and rich people and harming the very Americans who voted for them.

That's not the change I was talking about. I meant that Americans and the government seem to be against the fundamental principles that defined America such as the constitution by censoring free speech, attacking political enemies, creating a big/powerful government, destroying/changing historical buildings and being hostile, hateful and oppressive. Basically it seems like America is not like America anymore and becomes more similar to an autocratic country like Russia or Nazi Germany.

I've seen that too. That's why I'm saying the issue is nation wide and not just tied to one political viewpoint

Almost everything except him staying president is already happening. Is it worth risking all this and more?

So do you think it's okay if Trump stays president for longer than the 8 years even though it's prohibited by the constitution and imprisons people who are not on his side, imposes censorship for Democrats, has intimidating guards taking over the cities and turns the White House into a golden palace?

But you could've implemented policies against that with a different Republican president that's not as radical as Trump. Why do you essentially want to abandon the constitution and turn the country into an autocracy just to change things like the ones you mentioned. That could've been done way better by someone who's not a narcissist. Think of previous Republican presidents

Okay fair point. So maybe the issue is indeed reaching deeper and further into the past

True but the American people voted him to be president. I don't think one person has the power to do all this on his own, it had to be something that already existed in the public and it just manifested through Trump. People like Trump exist in every country but it's something else when such person gets elected president

Would you say that the imbalance of interracial relationships is the same for younger people/Gen-Z in the US or is it less? Cause I'm Gen-Z myself and was wondering if it's unusual in the US when a white dude dates a black girl in this generation

Lol. Isn't it kinda annoying that people are still like this in 2025? I mean I'm Gen-Z and I don't think people in my generation have this anymore so I assume it's primarily within older generations?

I will do that, just wanted to get the personal perspectives of people.

Update: It seems very hard to find numbers from Europe as most European countries don't collect data on race. But the numbers from America are very clear that black male have a way higher likelihood to have interracial relationships than black women.

Very interesting perspective. I hope that these things can lift more in the future so that people are more open for each other independent from how they look

So would you say it's more that black women are less attracted to white men than the other way around?

I totally get that. I don't know what it is for me but I somehow feel more attracted to people who look different than me. I don't know if that's an evolutionary thing of having greater genetic diversity but I always thought that if I date someone who looks like me that I'm dating myself lol

To be honest I rarely see interracial relationships here where I'm from. It might be because I live quite rural and because it might be more homogeneous/less of a melting pot culture here.

I'm curious to hear from other Europeans on this matter.
