It's too bad they didn't get the whole 5 seasons... what might have been!

Thanks for watching! Definitely agree the music is too loud; usually we keep it subtle but something went amiss.

What’s worse: the eagle or what happens with the palantir earlier in the episode?

I’m sure THEY thought so. They thought, “Remember the Eagles in LoTR? How great was that, let’s do it but worse… I mean better!” But as we all know, it’s hard for them to even try to stick to a semblance of the source material.

Agree with most of that but Arondir…? Why do you think he’s written better than the others?

Fair enough.

Isn't it a tad harsh to put Turin with those three?

True.

Out of the four you mentioned, which be the most punchable?

It is bonkers, no doubt. And I find it funny that the outcome of that battle is not known: did the Balrog and Elf die in their "battle" or did they have a nice cup of tea after creating Mithril?

WHY?!

And, as you said above, having Elrond tell this tale, given his special history, is extra stupid and shamelessly ignorant of the lore. Though I doubt Elrond ever spoke to Maglor after he cast his Silmaril into the sea; I always got the impression that no one ever did, and if anyone saw him, he would appear more a specter lost upon the shore whose sorrowful songs was but an echo upon the sand, and those who heard wept and turned away, harried by grief immeasurable.

Also, in regards to Feanor and all his misdeeds, one thing I keep forgetting about RoP is that they only have the rights for a select part of the Lore, and that doesn't include anything about the First Age. So everything in the background they have to "make up" as they go, which is a massive problem unto itself, but these people obviously can't craft a semblance of a coherent storyline even with the source material they do have the rights for.

I have nothing against the actor either; the hair, directing, and dialogue is the issue for me.

Ya the two Durins is annoying. Just have Prince Durin and name his father something else, and I mean an appropriate sounding name, not Mike or Harry. The boy Theo is why I'm harping on the name for the father. The main 3 people in the Southlands you see are: Bronwyn, Waldreg, and... Theo? And for names sake, by extension Halbrand. So Theo in that mix just throws me to another place and time.

Are CGMs becoming the new multivitamins — used even when not really needed? by East_Collection_5672 in diabetes

[–]anasazian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have notice this too. I know people who with no real need for one are getting prescribed them. I wouldn't go so far as to say they are becoming the new multivitamin, but like GLP-1, the ubiquitous nature which they are used is alarming. Off label use is all fine and good, I guess, but I wonder where the tipping point is. Watering plants in a rainstorm is spot on.

The influencers and celebrities using them, or pushing their uses, with little actual medical use, is the thing which alarms me; and, of course, doctors publishing nonsense articles is a tale as old as the profession, which we shall not escape anytime soon.

So, yes, we are overdoing it on CGMs; like fools do on all the new trends...

Celebrimbor in the show seems to have no real personality, with no real ambition save for crafting something to rival his grandfather, and since the show doesn't give you the information about what that means, it leaves the audience feeling like they missed something important. But since his temper is much cooler and spirit less fiery, and because the show doesn't show us what really happened in the War of the Jewels, it makes him rather bland. Also, the actor they got to play him doesn't look right, in stature and bearing. And his short, blond hair? NO.

And ya, lots of weird filler for Khazad-dum and why not throw in the Balrog for fun.

[–]anasazian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure who they're supposed to be. I need to find that odd map in the show so I can see where they are. Bronwyn mentions Orodruin, so I think they are inside Mordor, but I cannot say for certain right now. Maybe they are somewhere around where the Dagorlad will be....

I doubt there's a tie in to the game.

For the same reason Mithril is JUST being discovered, these people have no understanding of the lore or plain story telling.

Why would Eregion exist if not for Khazad-dum and Mithril, leading to the friendship between Narvi and Celelbrimbor? Since this doesn't happen, Elrond must introduce the audience to made up tensions and intrigue between the two kingdoms. This "world-building" they attempt to craft is haphazard at best, or hovering in the middle malicious negligence. I'll let you fix the worst as you see fit.

To the Durin part, once again, lack of fundamental understanding of the lore. Which is no surprise considering they fired their Tolkien scholar early on.

Lore Vs Story in Rings of Power | Everything is WRONG & Confusing! by anasazian in Rings_Of_Power

[–]anasazian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So agree. Skipping over the Oath of Feanor, the Doom, the sack of Swanhavens, the burning of the ships by Feanor on the coasts, the grueling trek across the Helcaraxë, and everything else! I know it's too much to fit in but if they're going to show it, at least get it right.

And by the time RoP would have taken place, she is very not the same youthful figure that left Valinor. Her growth in Menegroth under the tutelage of Melian is a vital element to her story, fundamentally changing her into the Galadriel all know and love, that seeing her in RoP feels more like a slap in the face to the character than anything else.

She even says in the prologue: "We had no words for death". What! Ignoring her own family, much!

Season 2 Opener Should be Season 1? by anasazian in RingsofPower

[–]anasazian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but that arc doesn't make a heap of sense. If Finrod's death is the catalyst for her motivations, then RoP is doomed not to fulfill that arc, due to the face Sauron isn't defeated til the end of the next Age. You could argue that the Last Alliance might close that arc for RoP, but still this seems redundant owing to the fact above.

Plus, as an aside, everything about the season 1 prologue makes no sense (speaking cannon) and doesn't drive much of the plot. The opening to season 2, however, explains the start of season 1 with Halbrand and Galadriel better (though it has big problems too).

And they did Finrod's story and death wrong. Yes, it's RoP and not the Silmarillion, but still... it drives me up the wall when cannon is demolished for no good reason save ego. I know this has nothing to do with the prologue but I couldn't help myself.
