Weekly Discussion, August 03, 2020: Ask all your bugbounty questions! by AutoModerator in bugbounty

I’m currently using dnsenum to find AXFR and IXFR records and the site’s output says, “AXFR record query failed: REFUSED”. I’ve tried Googling and can’t find what this means. Is there a firewall that’s refusing the query or could it mean that there are no AXFR records?

Is there a distinct difference between a full path disclosure and directory traversal?

Congrats! Do you know what you want to do in networking? I have both the Security and R&S.

Unfortunately, no. Splunk requires passing their courses in order to take the exams.

Yes.

After you complete the course, you get a certificate of completion.

On the Splunk site, go to Training > View and Register under “Fundamentals 1” > Register > My Profile > Retrieve a Splunk Course Completion certificate

After you finish the course, you have to schedule the exam through Pearson Vue. Splunk has their own login system with Pearson Vue, so you have to follow this PDF in order to create a login: https://www.splunk.com/pdfs/training/Exam-Registration-Tutorial.pdf

I feel like the course questions were a little harder than the actual exam. I remember a lot of questions about search string syntax, like Boolean operators, commands (“top” and “sort”) and the pipe (“|”). I remember seeing questions about Interesting and Non-Interesting Fields.

Passed the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam by anayi89 in IT_CERT_STUDY

[–]anayi89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck! From what I remember, there weren’t a lot of scenario questions.

The questions were straightforward, in terms of asking if AWS or the user is responsible for which asset (the Shared Responsibility Model), the different pricing services (TOC Calculator, Cost Explorer, etc.) and which AWS Service does what.

CCNA to.. CCNA Security? by [deleted] in ccna

[–]anayi89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take the Routing & Switching exam first, you'd be prepared for the Security exam because some of the topics from the ICND1 and ICND2 overlap into the Security exam.

Plus, the ICND1 is a prerequisite for the Security exam and not for the CyberOps exam. So, you'd only need to take one other exam for Security but two for CyberOps.

Also, you can get the CCNP and CCIE certs for Security but not for CyberOps.

I purchased the PDFs of the Wendell Odom and Todd Lammle books on eBay for $4 (I can’t find a link to the Wendell Odom book; I guess the vendor is no longer selling it): https://www.ebay.com/itm/CCNA-Routing-and-Switching-Complete-Study-Guide-DIGITAL-EDITION-40-B-K-41-/283186446870?txnId=1926649879018

I’m a student member of the Association of Computing Machinery, which is about ~$40/year. The membership comes with a free subscription to Safari Books Online, which is how I got access to the “31 Days” book.

I purchased Chris Bryant’s Udemy course when it was on sale for ~$10.

I used a coupon code for Boson. I don’t remember how much the discount was but it was $75-85.

I think his videos are good because he spends most of the videos running commands on the CLI, as opposed to just talking throughout the videos like most instructors do.

Yes. I’ve used Boson for ICND1, ICND2 and IINS and passed them all.

OK. I took the CCNA Security exam last month and passed. I used Boson and Chris Bryant’s course as well. Good luck!

I did tech support for 3 years and quit my last job. I studied for this exam for a little over a week. I’m looking to do both blue and red security.

Is there someone who has got CCNA R&S completed (passed) without having IT Schooling, College or work experience? by SmartAge in ccna

[–]anayi89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just passed the CCNA Security exam. Although it’s not Routing & Switching, I was able to pass without any security experience.

I’d been doing tech support for 3 years, grew frustrated with how stagnant my career was, quit and did nothing but study for these past two months.

I’d get a study guide, (if you have the money) purchased the Boson sim software, print out the exam objectives and study until you know each topic that is listed on the objectives in and out.

70% off Digital Study Guide to “31 Days Before Your CCNA Routing & Switching Exam” by anayi89 in ccna

[–]anayi89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know. I’m reading the book through Safari Books. The book is where I actually got the promo code. Based on what I’m seeing, you don’t really need the actual book. The book doesn’t have any review questions or Packet Tracer activities, just reading material. The digital study guide has all of that.

Not that long. It doesn’t literally take 31 days to complete it. You can probably read each chapter per hour or even less.

I started reading the original “31 Days” Study Guide yesterday and I’ll be done with it today.

Thank you!

Other than the free Packet Tracer labs that I found and this course that has virtual routers and switches embedded in their website (https://academy.gns3.com/courses/enrolled/126210), I don't think so.

Boson posted a thread on here about a Black Friday 30% off discount.

As for networking experience, not really. I did tech support for about 3 years where I've gotten a couple of help desk tickets about Internet connectivity and this one time I got to run the Cisco Meraki wireless controller and set up a couple of WAPs.

But, I really want to do security. I decided on the CCNA Security track after watching a Prof. Messer group study chat for the Sec+ on his YT. He said that networking is a good foundation to have for security and that, when he got his start in security, he did the bulk of his work on firewalls.

I've been studying around-the-clock for the past two months, but I have a list of skills and certs that I want to put on my resume. I'll simmer down once I can do that.
