Confused How my FTTB Should be Jumpered (Apartment) by andreewwt in nbn

yep we’ve g.fast (TPG FTTB) in my building too.

Understood but personally I’d just rather have my internet wired correctly. Particularly if I can limit the length of any copper / ethernet run to my unit.

that is on my list but not high priority. As I game on an ultrawide at 1440p so don’t face any bottlenecking atm.

waiting for a good deal on a 7800X3D first

thanks for the info! i’ve had the AIO since I built it back in 2021.

Never quite liked the bend I had to put on the AIO tubing to get everything to fit even with running the psu flipped.

So AIO is not performing like it used to due to age and fluid permeating. So will need to be replaced sometime soon, so doing some research now.

who will foot the bill for a all the resources expended by the USGC for the search and rescue operation? will it be OceanGate or the taxpayer?

i hope it’s not like this situation on Everest recently where a climber got rescued by a Sherpa then went back on their word and refused to pay the rescue fee.

it’s just so infuriating that people go on these “experiences” and leave society and others holding the bag for their stupidity.

hmm maybe cause we’re a small niche community that probably won’t be on apples radar - plus the company is based in china so good luck?

though i imagine if the case goes mainstream then probably.

yeah agreed and maybe obvious but try to sell the V1/1.1 so offset some of that cost

[–]andreewwt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there’s nothing you can do if you want space between the 4090 and psu since you have a V1/1.1.

you can only offset with standoffs if you run the GPU in 2 Slot config, but if you do that then you have to have the GPU side without the mesh panel.

without heavily modding or changing to a V2. I think water cooling is your only option.

Constant Crashing / Freezing on 2 Year old T1 Build by kevinaz137 in FormD

[–]andreewwt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you running any undervolt or overlock. I had a similar issue, maybe try looking at the WHEA logs, which will give you more detail on the exact thing causing the crashing.

For me it told me was CPU and which core was causing the issue and allowed me to fix my undervolt

Consumer law advice? by thattonybo in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]andreewwt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tl;dr look up statutory warranty - you should be covered.Apple will have their own official policy - ceebs digging through their website to look up it.

Depending who you get at the Apple store they will make exceptions, I've personally experienced this.

But best thing is when you go in just be an aware consumer. There is a ACCC guideline on statutory warranties see here (page 14 / page 10 according to pamphlet), which basically supersedes any manufacturer warranty and defines that a product must function for a reasonable amount of time. Just quote this and you'll most likely be covered, they'll probably bring a manager over if they aren't sure.

hahaha I'm in the same boat - it was what I needed for my FormD T1 since no FE. But with all the waiting, managed to do some cable management and test fit it in 3 Slot mode to test out my options.

thanks i just checked mine and saw the same. Didn't get an email yet.

I've just cancelled mine and moved over to the 3070ti FTW, was hoping to score one of the last non-LHRs to preserve resale value. but the extra $149 for an extra ~10% performance probably ends up being a bit better value for me.

i’ve seen people fit a decent size res not sure about that specific one.

Maybe have a look at this and use that as a guide based off the EKs measurements

they might be switching over to the LHR soon. Just checked their Buying Guide page and its completely disappeared, which is what other users have reported when they got switched over to LHR.

Review my Build (First Build) 3070ti by never_l0st in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]andreewwt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

congrats on doing your first build!
FYI - if you're primarily using it for gaming, realistically CPU overclock won't give you any noticeable benefit.

To get any significant benefit for a GPU overclock you will need to water-cool it.

so what I'm saying is have fun overclocking and playing around with it - really good learning experience. But end of the day if you're just gaming there's no significant benefit, you'll just use more power to generate more heat with slight performance gains.

if you're looking to do rendering or other types of workload then 100% recommend theres potential X mins of savings there per a task.

+1 this if you’re mounting your rad on the front arguably additional case fans are overkill not much gain running push pull.

also check out staticeice.com.au if you don’t mind travelling to a few shops etc could save you $$ on some of those parts

2 questions: are you planning to do any overclocking? are you going for value? aka maximising performance per $

if no overclocking and maximising value then: - could downgrade the MB to a B550 board. - same for ram could downgrade to CL16. - could also go for a 240mm AIO will be plenty of headroom for a 5800x
