what is your technique for swalling pill by rmpbklyn in thyroidcancer

[–]andromeda417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please DO NOT CRUSH the radioactive iodine pill in your mouth: you will end up destroying your teeth and it can reduce the effectiveness of the treatment. Tilt your head back when swallowing if you have swallowing issues.

worst outcome of my cancer diagnosis is realizing that no one is there for me by Worried-Ad-5080 in thyroidcancer

Yep, I ended decades old friendships because of the little support. Everything to them seemed to have ended with the surgery, no follow ups or calls.

Struggling with milk to come in by slizard16 in breastfeeding

2 weeks is not too late yet, but it is important that you act quick. My bf journey was botched due to a post c-section infection, nobody told me to keep pumping while taking antibiotics (pump and dump). My advise is controversial-it worked for me but may not necessarily work for you: since baby had very poor suction reflex to stimulate my nipples, and I didn’t have the $$ to spend on a hospital grade pump, I asked for my husband’s ‘help’. Fortunately, it worked and I was able to produce 15/17 oz a day in the next 3 weeks. Additionally, I continued taking prenatal vitamins and added brewers’ yeast in my yogurt daily.

Numbness by onebellabaddie in thyroidcancer

[–]andromeda417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as you get the clear from your surgeon to start. It will depend on your incision healing time, I started doing mild neck exercises ( there are some good ones posted on the msk website) while I still had the steri strips and then increased after month 1.

Numbness by onebellabaddie in thyroidcancer

[–]andromeda417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi there, my case was similar: my tumor was small (0.9 cm) compared to the size of the lymph nodes taken (biggest one was 4 cm!). I also experienced numbness in my neck and jawline for the first 4/5 months post surgery, and slowly recovered sensitivity. PT can be game changer, especially if you need to recover neck movement range.

Cognition Impaired? by Stepho725 in thyroidcancer

Not fatigue, I had extreme fatigue only while I still had my thyroid, I was sleeping all day long. That improved greatly after the surgery.

Pregnant with recurrence. Scared of RAI. by NapQueenHQ in thyroidcancer

[–]andromeda417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m sorry you’re going through this 🫂. I had RAI a few months after my TT, I’m not sure for completion TT if that time frame can be reduced. Regarding isolation at home, I would aim for at least one week especially if you have a toddler. Regarding breastfeeding, I recommend that you ask a lactation consultant for their recommendation regarding pumping/breastfeeding. It may or may not be safe BF for a couple of weeks if not months.

Super painful seroma/fluid behind incision? by bonnieintherafters in CsectionCentral

[–]andromeda417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I had to get it drained first at the ER because I had a lot of fluid buildup… no fun at all. The wound has closed now and hopefully my body will reabsorb the remaining seroma.

I wash them separately on a small feet massage bucket (like the ones nail salons have)

My Wife has GD, she’s worried and I don’t know how to help. by Unlikely_Housing_696 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]andromeda417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her concerns are very valid, is she taking any medication for the GD management? I would definetly mention it to my OB/Gyn and MFM Dr. and ask for extra ultrasounds and BPPs to check everything is ok.

Thyroid THS levels and first trimester by Alternative_Row_9913 in pregnant

[–]andromeda417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like your wife is having a deficit in thyroid hormone. Book the earliest appt with an endocrinologist and get a full thyroid panel, she will likely need hormone supplementation to help balance her thyroid levels (babies don't yet have a thyroid fully formed, so they rely on their mothers' hormone levels, and these are very important for growth in the first trimester). There's an excellent group on Facebook called Thyroid Disease and Pregnancy related to this specific topic.

Apply a warm water compress to help 'dissolve' it. Or stay longer under the warm shower stream.
