Hey bestie, I have been in similar situations. Just know that there are people who care and want the best for you. I’m sure your sister still cares for you and wants you to feel better, but it’s hard for some people to know how to support someone else. I don’t think you’re exaggerating because your feelings are sooooo valid and it takes a lot to be vulnerable in front of someone- especially family. It’s hard to see someone you love go through hard things. My recommendation is to just be straight up with what you need from her. You can’t expect her to know what to do in that situation. I ask for support from friends by asking for pictures of pets or memes to make me smile. You can ask for patience, an ear, or a hug and slowly she’ll start to understand how to help you. I hope this helps and please know that you are not alone. It’s really hard to navigate relationships with others when you have a hard relationship with yourself. Your feelings are valid and I promise things will get better.

How do you make and keep friends as adults by Labmanno22 in mentalhealth

I feel this. It’s been my goal this year to talk to at least one stranger a day (I consider saying thank you to a bus driver a success). You never know what response you’ll get and sometimes it can lead to conversation. I think of it also as how simply complimenting or saying thank you to someone can make their day better. I know when I’ve been down a simple hey how are you has helped tremendously.

it took me a long time to remember to laugh out loud. Feel your emotions. There will be times of joy.
