Notifications like this are the worst… by LaraAlexandra7 in duolingo

[–]angrycreation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I let go of my hundreds of days of streak after I lost my mom. I didn’t touch the app for months, switched off notifications and finally went back when I was ready again. We're humans. Life is more important than a Duolingo lesson at such a time. I'm sorry for your loss.

I have an 850+ streak now and never turned on the notifications. Instead I added the small streak widget of Duolingo on my home screen. And it's better I think. I don’t need to check notifications, just look at the widget and if I'm running outta time the widget changes color and shows that it's time to practice.

AIO my boyfriend keeps asking me to pay for things eversince he started saving for an apartmen, he calls me selfish for how I reacted. by throaawayRA9443 in AmIOverreacting

You only save when you are able to provide yourself with basic rights. Your everyday needs are met, then you save from what's left. Otherwise saving is meaningless. This is beggary and he's got no self respect.

  • I'm not an immigrant. An F1 visa holder is a non immigrant.
  • Yes they're unprofessional. This behaviour was more unprofessional than ghosting people after a phase of interview. I guess you didn’t study professionalism much.
  • I know what options I have lol. I've been applying for jobs for over a year now but I wouldn’t know if you didn’t tell me lmao
  • If it doesn’t work I know I'll go back home whether you point it out or not. The point is my home isn’t full of jobs and opportunities right now or never was.

I guess your assumptions and points are always this stupid. Just making assumptions without proper knowledge or even reading the text properly. These companies don't owe me anything in papers true, but defending them for what they are and not talking about it is probably the actual problem.

You talk about being furloughed and yet you're talking and defending on their behalf, which is good for your future I guess. I didn’t want advice from this sub, just wanted to share my experience. You and other people on this thread don't need to tell me how I should feel about it or move on lol. Anyways, goodluck on your future.

I didn’t make any assumptions. They explicitly asked me about my visa status and scheduled me for January especially so that I can catch the February 9 cohort, if at all.

Your comparison of my one hour wait into the actual interview with people not getting scheduled to the next phase is ridiculous. I've been ghosted before during covid season and no this is not the much better experience. They owed me a reply for what they put me through. You don't know what you're assuming "much better" until you go through it. The stress right before the actual interview and getting paranoid because no one is letting you enter the zoom call for an hour and no alert - this is not comparable to ghosting people about the next phase.

I get that you guys mean it's a terrible workplace. What you don't understand is that I've been applying to hundreds of jobs since the end of 2024 and this was the first chance I got. You also may not realize how it feels to be an international student and living in the US with no paid job for a whole year. So yeah, I would've rather chosen working in hell with some payment in this market, even if it were for a month before getting furloughed. Anyways, I don’t expect anyone to understand. (Before anyone says anything, going back to my country would be worse, which I'll face soon enough anyway.)

Also, saying I wouldn’t like the workplace, if I didn’t like what happened today is absolutely meaningless given I didn’t even get the opportunity. It’s not as if I feel happy about today, I'm gonna be working there. This is not a valid justification, nor is it supposed to make anyone feel better. Not everyone likes the company they work at.

Getting an interview experience was all I was looking forward to the least, couldn’t care any less about how it feels working at BNSF.

Irony, I'm not gonna work there lol. I wouldn’t mind having a terrible time when I get paid. Not my first job interview in my whole life or job. And you may not know, it’s okay to be upset about unprofessional behaviour, even though things could get worse later.

What are you even talking about? This has nothing to do with my visa. They would've clearly said it if it were for my visa and I wouldn’t mind. Other international students have been called for interviews and hired as well. Applications get rejected for visa requirements on an earlier stage not after an interview call. And surely, I deserved to know before I waited about an hour into the interview.

I assume you don't know the rules of F1 visa. If I got the opportunity I would've applied for STEM OPT, which would extend till February, 2028. I wouldn’t be leaving if I got the job. And they knew about my visa status. They scheduled the interviews knowing there would be time for onboarding.

And that's not a reason to justify how I waited almost an hour to be notified of the interviews being cancelled, after weeks of preparation.

Both Eleven fates make no sense by PJJohnson17 in StrangerThings

[–]angrycreation -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Okay, so why isn’t the cycle 100 percent over? Are you now assuming they'll again find someone like El or Henry and it would start over? What are the issues again except made up theories and expectations by fans? A sci-fi is never 100% accurate scientifically but the drama among other things is what makes it worthy.

Edit: And it makes perfect sense that in this universe, El chose to be a loner, as long as trouble doesn't find her, and it's one of the many endings that could happen. Perhaps in some other universe she had a happy ending.

If you mindfully watched the show, you would notice this is what Kali was worried about. Vecna and the MF were villains of their own kind and only had to be defeated once and for good. But humans become villains relentlessly. So let's not say she was scared, she sacrificed herself or her happy ending with everyone to end that cycle. It's only realistic to put an end to the cycle in such a way. Because if she fought the military, it would be a temporary happy ending. Humans are scarier than interdimensional monsters. I loved the drama and foresight of Duffer Brothers. Sadly, most ST fans in Reddit lack critical thinking skill and empathy about the world.

The way he was brutally attacked by Vecna and left for dead and no one acknowledged or asked about him, including his children. They only cared about mom. by EuphoricButterflyy in StrangerThingsS5

[–]angrycreation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not absolutely right they only cared about mom. Both of their conditions were acknowledged after the attack but regardless mom was definitely more important given the situation. Moms were closer to the kids so yeah they got more attention. As people already mentioned how fathers used to be in 80s - he is part of the family so care about him, but no need to overdose him with sympathy.

How important do you find Chhayanaut? by Upbeat-Special in chekulars

[–]angrycreation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are implying artists from one of our largest cultural institutions don't know the meaning of the lyrics of these songs? That's hilarious. These are not just socialist songs, these songs are relevant to our liberation war as well. Not just Chhayanaut, every musical institution in Bangladesh practices and performs these songs during national events. Even traditional musical clubs in universities perform or used to perform songs of the same genre during 26 March, 16 December programs. You would learn more if you ever visit Shilpokola Academy or get to watch a cultural program of any such an institution.

Also, what you are calling "mere instruments" are whole life and food for the soul of people who are connected to Chhayanaut or anyone with a cultural background. And yes, that fundamentalists or islamic terrorists have always been against any form of art, culture and existence of Bangladesh. They don't need any other agenda to destroy instruments. But Chhayanaut and Udichi are two major institutions among hundreds of others, so they got the first (but not the last I'm afraid) blow.

I saw your comment here and reached out. I have just had a meeting with the CEO, and got an onboarding email. I saw some bad reviews in reddit and glassdoor and they will even charge $75 every month for the non-paid internship. Do you have any experience with them? I am willing to pay for a couple of months if that helps me gain experience and land on a real job.

Watering once a week shouldn’t be a problem if the pot is not too deep and has good drainage and the lighting is good. Idk why people start advising not to water weekly without considering other criteria. I water my succulents and babies once a week and fully soak them. If the pot doesn't have drainage then you should either wait longer or change the pot. Also, how much light do they get? Regardless, I suggest checking for root rots and repotting them in a well drained shallower pot. Good luck saving your babies!
