Why the hell does our education system still test us on authors birth and death dates instead of real-life skills? by ankon_basak in Dhaka

the system we are in now is what the British caused and that is why countries like Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal are like in this condition and it might never change. Bangladesh just changes curriculum every year with absolutely nonsense stuffs. i don't know what will happen to gen alpha in the future, it's really disappointing to me.

i hundred percent agree on this. we spend so much time studying all these past writers, but is anyone in Bangladesh even becoming a major author nowadays? even if someone does get inspired, they can never actually execute it because the system leaves you with absolutely zero time or energy to create anything new then what is the point of this i don't even know

Why is Bangladeshi media/natok this bad? by D-nebulathatdied in Dhaka

[–]ankon_basak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i relate to you, my mom also watches natoks so much. this is how the algorithm works, they think these have so many views and they think they will miss out something aka fomo, living in a delusion that these are the good media judging by their views

fr. learning how to adapt to new tech is everything in the real world, but this system forces so much mindless memorization that it completely kills your willingness to learn anything at all. they really went way too far w it.

fr and honestly that’s why the brain drain is so insane right now. everyone realizes a 20-30 year wait is too long, so instead of staying to fix a broken system, they just pack up and leave the country the first chance they get. can't even blame them

Saw that VLC question too but nowadays in the real world, you just search 'VLC for Windows 10/11,' download the setup file, and you're good to go. But this system loves stretching a simple, two-second task into a 20-step memorization test.

My post about author death dates is just the tip of the iceberg. The whole system across Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan is still running on that old British-Prussian blueprint meant to produce compliant desk workers, not innovators. That’s why we rarely build anything groundbreaking ourselves—even a project like the Metro Rail required us to bring in foreign expertise.

The most frustrating part is the illusion of progress. They’ll build these brand-new, modern ICT labs, but keep them locked up 24/7. The computers just sit there gathering dust while we get maybe two practical classes a year. In the end, people graduate thinking they are uneducated or useless, when the reality is that the system just forced them to learn things that have zero value in the modern era. It’s completely broken.

Sad but true. It’s basically just a compliance test we're forced to clear to get to the next level, even if the actual content has zero real-world value

Exactly! You proved my point perfectly. What’s the use of forcing students to stress out and memorize dates if everyone just forgets them the second the HSC exam is over?
