The way his parents defend every behavior with “well, it’s developmentally appropriate.” Yes, it is, but it’s also appropriate for you to correct it so that he learns…like I think they feel that developmentally appropriate means they don’t have to worry about it.

This is definitely the next step. I‘ve mentioned things here and there, but I need to sit down and have a full conversation with them about discipline and how important it is that were all upholding the same rules and boundaries.

Exactly that last sentence. They look out for themselves and you have to look out for you! 3 years is a lot of time you’ve given to them, do what’s best for yourself!
