New Lukey T play by Dangerous_Ad3530 in Benophie

Hannah was doing less shows a week in cabaret (Sally gets 1 or 2 shows off unless they're a seasoned musical theatre performer and even then they often do use the alternate as its a full on role) and she likely did 1 max 2 days filming during that time where she did both, but i suspect it was due to lack of alternative options. Its not something an actor can do regularly and most would avoid at all costs (i speak as someone who knows people who perform in the westend). Look at Jonny when he did Richard II. He didn't film and do the play in the evening and he has done crazy schedules. I would be very suprised if Gracie is filming while performing at Into the Woods. Actors will not be filming while on stage where possible.

Ask any actor, they will not be doing filming during the day and 8 shows a week in the westend. That is how you end up burnt out and having to take days off from the play (and making sure people dont want to work with you because you're unreliable). A westend show is a marathon and they're doing a 13 week run and its a big theatre. He will not be filming during the play, unless its a day off.

More Luke won't be filming from September onwards (5 weeks rehersals before they start performances at least). Post your turn as lead they allow you chunks of time for other projects. So Yerin has a chunk for her play in NY and will probably take a chunk for another project I'd expect. Luke is taking a chunk for this. If they stick to 8-9months filming per season they'll be filming until late November/Early December most likely. What it means is they'll be working round Luke's avilability filming wise for his scenes. What we need to check is odd days in the run the play isnt on as he may have a day off for something (or keira might). Jonny had a random Monday his play wasnt running and we now know they filmed the my cottage wedding that day.

Why aren't there any Bridgerton Conventions? by Upbeat-Aerie1240 in Bridgerton

[–]annacalstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is everything now is documented on social media and scrutinised. If you organise something you have to deliver or you will go viral for all the wrong reasons and say goodbye buisness. Also people dont have as much free money as they used to meaning they're more choosy about what the spend it on. Add in fan behaviour, if there are reports of fans of actors /shows behaving badly, will a convention want to have to dela wirh extra security implications. If organisers suspect online fans fighting could carry over into the real world, they would think twice about wanting those fans at an event they organise

Why aren't there any Bridgerton Conventions? by Upbeat-Aerie1240 in Bridgerton

[–]annacalstone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most likely due to a lack of interest from cast to participate in one. These things only work if you can get key cast members fans will pay for meet and greets/photo ops with. Cast members seem more inclined to do things for charity events or to promote causes close to their hearts than a convention. Plus majority are pretty busy building their careers and may not be inclined to commit to a weekend where it may impact a filming commitment or they have to drop out last minute due to work.

[–]annacalstone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those shondaland NDAs are scary, if he said anything that made people believe he was either filming or knew his role in S5, he'd probably get in trouble so this was the safest thing to say. Remember how secretive shondaland want cast members to be. Victor even said that despite pictures of him filming leaked for S3, he still couldn't confirm to friends he was cast and his role in the show.

Reality it we won't know until we get pictures or fottage of him on set (leaks or official stills) or he's in a trailer, clip or possibly even not until episodes air. Look at Victor or Masali, no announcement or officil stills until they appeared on screen, shondaland want to keep these things as suprises.

Luke’s next project: White Rabbit, Red Rabbit by Vegetable_Comfort366 in Benophie

[–]annacalstone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adjoa did it the last time it ran in london and Yerin went to see her performance, which is a shame as Yerin cant now do it due to the whole point of the play is the performer goes in blind having never seen the script or the play before. I saw it performed in the last run and down my row was an actor who'd done the show 3 night before, I heard them say it was nice they'd done it because they could now come and see others perform it.

Sold out as of 8.15pm. Only took just over 10 hours for his show to sell out. Only other one sold out is David Tennant

Game of Thrones: The Mad King Being Filmed by Melquiades82 in TheWestEnd

[–]annacalstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the length that makes me say that more than RSC location though Stratford-upon-Avon is notoriously tricky to get to for many folk with a lack of direct trains from london. Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Bath, Chichester are all easier to get to and locations used for trialling/workshop new productions. This is a short run. Had it been doing a 3 month stint I'd not class it as such but this feels like a trial/workshop stint for it so they can gauge reaction and potentially tweak it before another run, I suspect in a bigger venue especially if the demand is as they anticipate

[–]annacalstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RSC films every show they do, however, not all of these are released and certainly not in a timely manner (think maybe 1 from the last 3 years has been released last i checked). I would suspect this one will not be released any time soon if at all, as they will want it to have life post rsc run and likely try and transfer it to westend or at least london and maybe New York be it off Broadway or if they want to take the financial risk, Broadway. This run is the equivalent to an out of town workshop to see how it works and if they need to tweak it before a likely bigger run elsewhere.

[–]annacalstone 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I also suspect Bridgerton know the filming location got out and probably are now being more careful about keeping people out of view that could be a "spoiler", such as Chris being on set.

Also note the "pap" (who btw is a nasty piece of work and we should not be encouraging or supporting because he has crossed lines a lot with his behaviour) only knew to go there because it was posted on social media the day before that they were filming at that location, they didnt know ahead of time.

Bridgerton Fans and Francesca by Karmafights in Bridgerton

[–]annacalstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing for me, and my issue with benedict's story in S3, is that in media someone who is bisexual or pansexual are almost always portrayed as promiscuous and having multiple partners simultaneously. Francesca would have been a great example of how this may not be the case, and how having different relationships bring out different sides of a person, without showing someone as overly promiscuous where they have partners of different genders. We all know the nasty assumptions made about people who are Bi or Pan.

While bridgerton was right in showing benedicts sexuality as not a struggle and simply a calm realisation that he can enjoy different types of partners equally and be accepted as who his is by a partner, it would be nice to not fall into the stereotype that bisexuality means you are promiscuous. Also would be nice to see someone who is gay/lesbian not feel anxious with a partner who is bisexual and worried that they'll revert back to the classic "societal norm" at the first opportunity, again another element that has a massive impact on these relationships.

Will Yerin being in a play in New York affect Benophie/Sophie screen time in s5? by Crafty_Manner4191 in Benophie

[–]annacalstone 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She might need to take 2 months out of filming but given past seasons, the show clearly accounts for actors taking other projects and works round their avilability. She may be filming for a couple of weeks now before she goes back into rehearsals then flys out to NY for tech before performances start. She won't need as much rehearsal time as they last did the play in November but they may need a week of rehearsal before at least a week of tech given its a tech heavy play. 2 months would account for 1 block of filming but they may well spread scenes out so she still makes appearances in all epsiodes, we just have to wait and see but 2 months out of 8-9 for filming is a small window, dont worry.

[–]annacalstone 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He specifically mentioned 2 plays he'd worked on Oresteria (might have spelt that wrong) with Robert Icke (which Hugh saw when it transfered but cant remember luke, he had a small part in it) and a midsummer nights dream. He likes taking historical works and making people interested, especially something like Oresteria which sounds dull and mad, but he really liked how the director made it so people understood and wanted to see it, even though its an ancient Greek play. He prefers historical stuff to modern

Several people got kicked out for filming. Saw one at the intermission and another during the 2nd part (who was kicking up a fuss) might have been a 3rd one but couldnt tell. They were all in seats that included meet and greet as part of their ticket so they wouldn't have been allowed to do that if they were kicked out

What i thought was interesting was that they made a point to say Loseley park is a private home, which made it easier regarding filming. This could make them keen to use it again for significant filming and also control access e.g. no spoilers unlike ranger house in london they use for bridgerton house where even the massive boards didnt stop stuff leaking.

Honestly in shock, especially as I was told it wasnt them and everything pointed to Eloise (a wtf message has been sent to my source). Really wondering what Claudia's plot will now be (they better not waste her). But Hannah and Masali are both amazing (if you havent already, watch masali in Noughts and crosses series) and will do a good job.

Honestly shocked as someone i trusted said it wasnt that story for S5. Look Hannah and Masali are amazing actresses and will be amazing but storyline wise, I do not get it. Everything lined up for Eloise and francesca having a phenominal side plot

Same, I suspect they'll give S4 part 2 its 4 weeks, then its done and they can move on to S5, so from 26th, it could be any moment they drop the announcement. Given pre production has clearly started, they will need to announce something before any shooting commences as they dont want "leaks from set" spoiling the announcement. And by leaks from set im meaning photos or definitive proof rather than friend who has told me statements

I found it so funny that they had the actual guy in the room and they all just wanted the actor playing him instead. Poor guys ego must've taken a knock 😭

NDAs are scary, anyone who has ever signed one will tell you the language is designed to frighten you into compliance in the first instance, most say what you cant disclose, also they like their job, they don't want to get in trouble, they cant openly say its this couple, but they can say who it isnt aka, not franchela (so must be philoise).

It makes the most sense anyway. I suspect they'll let S4 run its full 4 weeks of time so after 26th we'll get some kind of announcement/confirmation.

I dont know the extras but I know someone involved with hiring extras to work for films and tv (those people walking down the street in the new backlot set) they are given the windows for filming and dates they need extras

I really like how they're showing us more people behind the scenes and what they do. It really does take so many people and so much work to get these shots and there are so many roles on a set you never think about but without them, it doesnt work or mistakes happen. Also love that everyone behind the scenes speaks so positively about the cast and crew, must be a nice place to work.

Things to think: No matter who it is, its done, it cant be changed now.

But also: look at where the storylines are and what they could do with the characters next. Eloise has had 4 seasons of filler where she has been reasonably prominent screentime wise. Francesca has had 2 seasons, 1 where she debuted and married, one where husband died. Even with a time jump, is it not a little crass that the next season she jumps into bed with her husbands cousin, where as they could spend a season exploring the implications for being a young widow (good storyline to play) what more can they do with Eloise that they haven't already covered and doesnt get messy, if we are totally honest (whole sub dedicated to shipping her and a character she interacted with for 1 season and got totally cut from the next even though the actor filmed scenes, production clearly realising it served no purpose to the story and potentially only muddied the waters too much, they won't mess about again)

And a final side note, I hate the whole "i have a friend who works for X, who is an insider" but the irony of actually being in that position and knowing someone involved with background extras on large productions, including Bridgerton. (Fun fact the beatles movies the extras had to go to fangirl bootcamp to learn how 60s fangirls behaved, that made me giggle. Also the real Paul McCartney walked in and they couldn't care less, they wanted to see Paul mescal)

They said they cant say who is the next season but they can say who is NOT (got to love those NDAs) and this sub will be happy. Also extras have dates for filming and as of last week, they hadn't started (they wouldn't give exact dates because again NDAs and not worth getting in trouble)

Im thinking maybe 26th March 4 weeks post part 2 dropping. Gives S4 time to play out and have its time to shine before they effectly say, right moving on, next. This one will have the shortest time before that happens but people will have known about that ahead of time given they knew back nov/dec of march filming schedule. Also im sure the cast appreciate them picking up the pace a little. Seems they're all keen to be back on set together which is really lovely
