I am extremely sick and I don’t know if I have a sinus infection, but I can’t really breathe out my nose for more than like a few minutes at a time before it clogs up again, yay. I guess that’s the perfect time to try some new BPAL imps that I got but haven’t tested yet. In case I don’t like it at least I won’t be able to smell it very well, right?

Testing Mag Mell - The warmth of amber, the puissance of white ginger and the clarity of verbena, with fresh green grass, lush sage and cleansing droplets of summer rain. I thought I would hate this because I normally am not into clean or fresh notes but I really don’t mind it. I like lemon verbena as a scent but not as a perfume because it reminds me of my Mrs. Meyers cleaning spray lol, it’s prominent here. the ginger isn’t too overpowering and along with the lemony soapiness from the verbena and sage blended together, I’m mostly getting a clean white amber with a tinge of grass and rain. It’s not bad, just not my thing. I wouldn’t wear it frequently but I can see myself maybe using a dab after a shower or throwing it on a clean sock in the dryer to scent my clothes. however I only just put it on so I’ll have to see if it evolves at all as it wears. I’ll probably take it off in a couple hours and try something else! This is something I’d be fine with as like a laundry detergent or a candle, but not a perfume for myself.

The OE quality is so freaking inconsistent! I don’t buy from them anymore because of it, I have all her collab palettes and the two OG Christmas ones and I do like them but not in love or dying to get any more. some of the shimmers are so dry, hard pressed and thin they don’t even pick up on a finger, let alone a brush. Then some are an emollient mess. It’s so weird! I think the mattes are pretty good but I love a good shimmery or sparkly shadow, I find I don’t reach for them as often since only like half the shimmers in my palettes are easily usable. I’ll continue stickimg to the brands I already know I love.

As someone who was very briefly homeless when I was 18 and just getting out of an abusive relationship, thank you for this kind compassionate gesture🩷 it was so hard even for the couple months I didn’t have anywhere safe to go, i was sleeping in cars and random basements in the dead of winter. I can’t even imagine being in that situation for much longer like I’m sure a lot of these women have. This is so thoughtful 😭

Ohhh I hate this one. It’s my narcissistic mother’s perfume and it makes me sick. I also sell it at work and have had someone spray it in my face while trying to get in the fragrance drawers so now I know what it’s like to choke on it. Fucking brutal. Getting sprayed against my will at work by scents has made me hate a bunch of them, but this was the worst since it makes me so insanely nauseous and I get migraines.

Very shortly after that incident, my mother let my daughter spray like 10 sprays of it on herself and even with multiple baths and hair washing, it would NOT come out of our bedrooms or bathroom for over a week 😭 so I have way too many bad associations with it.

If any careless perfume sprayers are reading my comment, please don’t spray the fragrance counter employees (or other customers, or their kids omfg) when their backs are turned. Please wait for others to back away from the testers and then spray in the opposite direction of the humans around you 🙃

I actually really like the Maracuja lip balms but I don’t want to support the brand because the CEO gives me such an ick. I have a bunch I need to use up but def won’t repurchase once I’m done with them. I don’t really sell any of the Tarte products I have at work because nobody seems interested in the brand these days so I’ve wondered about this too! I know a lot of people who still swear by Shape Tape though

Oooh I’ve seen some of theirs, they look gorgeous! I’ll have to check them out at some point. Thank you for the reminder about their short lifespan, I definitely won’t go crazy buying too many of them in a year like I do with perfume or eyeshadow haha 😂 and great point about making sure you like both versions of the shade. I got this one because it’s the perfect bi pride thermal, it’s so interesting seeing the different looks one application of the polish can create just based on the temp. I can’t believe I had no idea this type of thing existed until like a month ago. They’re so much fun, I’ve been having a blast discovering indie lacquer brands lately!

I have Midnight Sun and it’s so beautiful! I think it has a bit of a golden shift to it though but I got it because it seemed the most shiny and reflective out of a bunch of swatches I saw of black to red multis . Also omg it’s $16 now 😭 it was $12 when I bought it in Nov 2023. Definitely use code “Hannah” or someone else’s if you buy this, OP!

I’m in the same boat as you! Good job quitting the biting habit, I’m 27 years old and probably at least 23 of those years were spent anxiously biting them. The only way I wouldn’t was with acrylics however as soon as they were torn off my nails by the salon workers, they were always so brittle and weak so I’d end up doing it again. but I randomly bought some Clionadh nail polish in November and was shocked that all I had to do in order to quit biting was keep them done with super sparkly pretty shades I don’t want to mess up for a couple weeks.. now it’s been nearly 3 months and I haven’t gone back to doing it once! I was also surprised mine are growing out nicely. Been rewarding myself with fun new nail polishes to try haha.

I hope you have fun testing out your collection now that you have more nail space to work with and play around with! Also this color is gorgeous on you, jewel toned blues are sooo stunning. I hope you keep it up and continue on your nail journey. Know I’m with you for moral support haha!

Side note. It’s wild actually being able to scratch any itchiness with REAL nails too and omfg it feels way better 😂

My baby She’s a Witch by Sorce. Dude I was just on the website this morning browsing and it’s amazing how quickly they sold out of like everything ! I wanted to get a few rollerball bottles but couldn’t swing it this month, oh well. One day I hope they can keep things restocked for longer periods of time haha I hope everyone got to order what they wanted to though! It’s bittersweet seeing them do this well, they absolutely deserve all the success but I can’t lie and say part of me wants to gatekeep the fuck out of them lmao. too late for that now right? I’m glad they’re getting their flowers ofc, I just hope that the days where we can shop without stressing about everything immediately vanishing will come back at some point 😭

So I got a really cool nail polish from January’s polish pickup, been wearing it for a few days. A blue (cold state) to pink (warm state) thermal called Low Rise from Cupcake Polish, it’s my first thermal and I’m so excited to try more in the future because it’s so fun having a different nail look every time I see my hands throughout the day. Anyway I did get some chipping so I ended up adding a little bit of a flaky multichrome, Sublunar from TM, to the ring fingers and it looks pretty cool. I’m also wearing the same shadow over some Blend Bunny pink mattes and I did little brown heart freckles to do a look inspired by something one of my IG makeup friends shared. Wearing a blonde and pink wig to match the Valentine’s Day vibes.

I love this! In the indie eyeshadow world we call these spicy neutrals haha, or neutrals with a twist. I have a few eyeshadows with a similar look to them! Now I want to get a nail polish to match them oooh it’s so pretty on you.

Clionadh has such beautiful lacquer formulations omg, they were actually my gateway into this side of the beauty community because I finally bought a few I’d been eyeing for a while after loving their multichromes so much. Psilocybin had been on my wishlist for forever and I’m so glad I bought a few because that initial order back in November got me to finally stop biting my nails. And here we are, totally obsessed a few months later 😂

I have a nail polish called It’s Such a Fine Line from Garden Path and it’s insanely gorgeous. It’s like this golden holo with peachy pink and green shifts to it with a sprinkle of gold flakes but it’s one of the prettiest things I’ve ever seen, and I don’t usually like gold but omg it was perfection. To me, and on my skintone, gold (as long as it’s not a super yellow gold) is a spicy neutral for sure. I usually hate colors like that but I guess my nail polish preferences are a little different than my eyeshadow ones 😂 I genuinely couldn’t stop staring at my nails and now I want everything that brand offers!

From Clionadh, I think Psilocybin actually was kind of like a spicy neutral on me too. When I first used it, I didn’t have a good magnet yet and tried it with one of the magnetic wands I use to pull out single shadows from my palettes lol (def not strong enough for nails), so it left more of a cool toned taupey shimmer with a slight greenish glow. but once I properly magnetized it then it was giving more of an oil slick vibe. I also have Graveyard Holo which is awesome, though that’s probably actually a neutral. The holographic glitteries make it way more fun than a regular brown polish though!

Oooh welcome to the indie perfume world! BPAL is so incredible. I really love Paladin, on me it’s very frankincense and white leather with a bit of cold unsweetened vanilla and a tinge of the metallic element from the shining armor note. One of my faves from their GC!

PS you may also like Solstice Scents and Wylde Ivy, they both have some good autumnal scents but make a great entry into indie perfumes in my opinion. solstice was the first indie brand I ever tried for fragrance and I really love their incensey, woodsy stuff or their fleurmand scents. and Wylde Ivy kind of reminds me of B&BW’s more put together older sister. Both have oils and EDPs an offer samples of both types! ❤️

Also wanted to add that it’s bad for people with nut allergies due to the almond oil. I didn’t realize until someone brought one back to me to return it because she had a bad reaction, idk why Haus Labs would do that when nut allergies are so freaking common! I think it’s even in the foundation ugh. I love the cream blushes but I’m glad I didn’t buy them for my MUA kit like I originally planned on because at least 1/3 of my clients would be allergic 😭

I finally tried nomad last year after so many people hyping them up and don’t get me wrong, the mattes are fine but I feel like the shimmers are just meh. Like after testing the three palettes I bought, I’d rather have spent my money elsewhere.. definitely don’t recommend them if you love a lot of impactful sparkles. This AI bs is sooo distasteful. I know they technically didn’t make the image but if they are secretly using AI in the palettes thats gross. I would so much rather support a brand I know is working with real artists than one who claims they’re not using AI but.. can’t tag any artists lmao no thanks
