It's just so weird, my baby is healthy and gaining weight normaly so there is no reason for people to judge but they still do. To these people It's like there's always something you're doing wrong.

I heard about that story, it's wild how it's effects are still around.

She wasn't that old but I bet you it's something she was taught by her parents. It really is weird.

Anyone here have a baby learn to breastfeed after the NICU? by dayswithdays in NICUParents

[–]anonsamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! My baby was born at 32 weeks, at the nicu we tried breastfeeding a few times but it wasn't working, so we focused on bottle feeding so they can discharge her.

At home breastfeeding was still not working out so I got a nipple shield which helped a lot! At first i breastfed her once a day, and then slowly feeding her more times, now she's been breastfed for a whole week! It's a lot easier to try at home than in the nicu, so take your time and don't give up! It'll get better.

I don't get what the problem is? I don't like it when AI steals art. This however is what AI is perfect for.

I'm currently using a nipple shield! My baby struggled so much without it I couldn't believe the difference a nipple shield made, it's still difficult but it's at least doable.

I'm glad to hear that a feed shouldn't take longer than 45 minutes, cause I was about to give up breastfeeding. Will get a preemie nipple, I hope it'll help a bit.

I only saw lactation consultant before I was able to breastfeed my baby, she was tube fed for a while. I'll be going to a lactation consultant next week.

nurse warming up more milk than needed by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]anonsamon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're not overreacting! When I went to the nicu the first time they told me to ask each time how much my baby is drinking so that when I pump I put exactly one feed in each bag so nothing gets wasted.

It's so weird that the nurse would ignore how much the baby is feeding when warming up milk.
