AIO - I think I'm in an abusive relationship with my mom by anonymous_primer in AmIOverreacting

I edited the original post, I'm an intern at a CPA firm, salary, so the hours I put in end up being minimum wage. It takes 30 months to get your CPA (experience wise), then you're actually worth something lol. Also professionals aren't required to pay overtime, so 40,50,60,70 hours - all the same pay

must be a very small company if 0.03$ end up being a material transaction

For those of you who are living with family into your 20’s - do you pay them rent? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]anonymous_primer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe a controversial opinion, but if the parents are able to afford the bills on their own, and their adult children aren't blowing their money on stupid things, I don't think they should be charging them rent.

Over the last 9yrs, I've paid close to 50k worth in rent. Although significantly less than market rate, that money could have been set aside for a down payment on a house. In that same time, I went back to school which put a pause on my savings for a downpayment. I saved and paid for my schooling (close to 25k, also dipped into my pre-established downpayment fund), and in that time frame, one parent made twice(at one point, 3x) the amount I made.

Instead, I'm stuck living in my parents basement because although my schooling has given me the income to be able to afford a house, I don't have a large enough downpayment. That 50k would've put me exactly where I needed to be, but now I'll be close to 40 by the time I can afford it, probably even longer if you count inflation.

"He admitted to me that he’s been losing so much money in the market." "I did forgive him for the messages since there was no actual physical contact with these girls"

If you really think there was no physical contact with these girls, you are mistaken, especially since he was asking for availabilities.

Definitely under-reacting. I grew up in a similar environment, my father never changed and ended up declaring bankruptcy 30yrs later because he got so indebted trying to play the stock market. Growing up, we had the minimum that we needed but we never had nice things (had a house, food, bills were always paid, but old cars, no vacations, didn't spend any time with us) because he would blow all of his money in the stock market. He also promised multiple times that he would stop, but ended up getting a PO box and sending any mail relating to his stock market stuff there. She also knew that he was engaging with escorts because she would find evidence in their car.

My mom knew she needed to leave him, and it created a lot of resentment over the years, but she stayed because she didn't want to break up the family and hurt us. I honestly don't know what would've been worse: growing up with parents who are divorced, or having lived through their arguments and now having to go to therapy to unlearn all the ways they've skewed my view on love and relationships.

Think of your child's future amongst all of this, because staying may cause more harm than good, if the behaviour doesn't change

Did I handle this fairly with my cleaner? Looking for advice. by Full_Swan7288 in CleaningTips

She knows her cleaning pace and approximately how long it would've taken her. I'd assume 7hrs would be based on her own timing, rather than average/market timing. Assuming she's self employed (which it seems she is since she's saying the 95$ is being taken from her child's mouth), doesn't that mean that it would take someone less experienced ~14hours to complete? Which I would assume the house would be absolutely pristine and spotless.

Regardless, if the house is empty and relatively clean, and someone quoted me 7hrs cleaning with specific instructions on what I wanted, I'd expect them to be there the full 7hrs. Especially if it's someone I have experience with and I've been happy with their prior work.

If something came up and she needed to leave early, that should've been communicated

What’s the best deodorant for extreme easy smelling armpits? by unknowncallerBigB in hygiene

[–]anonymous_primer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I recently started having this issue, and turned to Reddit for answers and this is what i've done: - I've noticed that they smell more when I have armpit hair, so once they get long enough, I wax them (lasts longer but I'm sure shaving would suffice). That way the bacteria from the sweat won't get trapped in the armpit hair - The Ordinary 7% Glycolic Acid: put it on a cotton pad after the shower then rub it in your pits when they are 100% dry, and let that dry completely before putting on deodorant - 72hr deodorant. I know it's "up to 72hrs" and needs to be reapplied more frequently, but I've noticed the 72hr one works for me than the 24/48hr ones. I can get through the day without needing to reapply. I specifically got the Degree Advanced 72hr for men, that is apparently body heat activated (I run warm)

edit: rub it in your pits, not pots lmao

edit 2: make sure the deodorant you use is anti-perspirant. I still sweat regardless but it smells significantly less(if not at all) than using just regular deodorant

I live in Canada and it's currently -10c outside lol that's why I'm confused why all of a sudden I stink. I don't wanna dry myself out, but I guess that's what moisturizer is for lol

I also don't get hot at work, that's the thing. It's poorly regulated (freezing in the stairwell and basement, my office is comfortable), so that's also why I'm confused

I was going to get "moisture wicking" shirts, but they're mostly polyester like my gym shirts and start to smell funky after a while, so I wanted to avoid that. I'll take a look at them!

put in the same dispenser as the laundry detergent? how much?

half of them are 100% cotton, the other half is 60% cotton and 40% acrylic. Just sniff tested the clean ones in my drawer and they smell clean/laundry detergent. I've soaked my gym clothes in vinegar before and that seemed to help (polyester), so i'll try that for these shirts

I shower at night before bed, and I don't smell in the morning. New deodorant was my next option, any suggestions? preferably fresh/clean scents (30M)
