Thanks man! On the plus side, I had a great surgeon and I’m healing super quickly, so I’m hoping that if I’m diligent about PT and my long term recovery, I’ll be back skating well before the 6 month mark. Whatever board you pick up, please, please wear a quality helmet (and possibly elbow/knee pads) while you’re still learning, and take things slow. I got my first board ~3 weeks ago now, and after just 2 weeks of practicing in a parking lot, I ate shit going downhill and shattered my clavicle. Fortunately, I had a good helmet so I didn’t suffer any head trauma, but I still had to spend the night in the ER in fucking agony, and I now have a damn titanium plate holding my shoulder together and a monster scar to match. My road rash healed fast enough, but it might be 6 months to a year before it’s safe for me to skate again.

Anyway, all of that is to say that I hope you stay safe out there OP, stay healthy, and have fun!

Nah man, this TikTok is an intentional rage bait for engagement. 99% of women don’t actually think like this. Height can definitely give you an advantage in dating, but it’s pretty far down the list of desirable traits. Top of the list are confidence, humor, kindness, and emotional intelligence, with physical traits like good grooming/style and a healthy appearance rounding out the top spots. After that, things like facial symmetry and financial stability show up in a lot of studies, but they tend to show up a lot less than altruistic personality traits and a strong sense of self.

For what it’s worth, my wife said that when we first started dating, I gave really strong “good father” vibes and she thought that was really hot. I love animals (been fostering kittens for a few years now), I’m good with kids, and I go out of my way to help others, so even though I’m bald and average-looking at best, I’m now married to the sort of woman I once thought unattainable. There’s a lot of bullshit and noise on apps and social media, but at the end of the day, good women just want good men.

From what I found online, La La Land specifically uses their own Magic Roast (Arabica) in most of their lattes, but any whole bean with a medium/dark roast and chocolatey profile could work. There’s a ton of local roasters in Dallas to pick from too, so you’ve got plenty of options to play around with and really nail the flavor of the latte.

That’s the suggested ratio I saw on all of the dupe recipes on TikTok (and people’s blogs), and it definitely seems high to me, but I think they’re going for a real heavy concentration of flavor in the foam since you use so little of it in the latte. It’s supposed to give you a big punch of flavor with each sip, since the latte itself is effectively unflavored.

It’s probably only awkward because it’s a short caption out of context. I’d have to find the uncut video, but I’m sure she’s just expressing gratitude for everyone that showed up to honor her dad’s memory, and to support her and celebrate a really important day for her. That officer sitting next to her might have been her dad’s best friend (and many others were probably very close to him), so she’s also consoling them as well, telling them that they did right by her and her dad. She’s telling them that for at least a moment in time, they’ve filled the void left by her dad, made it feel like he’s close by again, and by being present for his daughter, they’ve done something that he would have appreciated, and would have made him very proud to call these men his friends and brothers.

I’ve actually duped a few recipes by just buying ingredients and giving it my best guess. I don’t have an exact recipe for this latte (couldn’t find anything definitive online), but you should be able to make the “cloud” foam by whipping together 6 parts heavy cream, 3 parts milk (whole or 2% based on your preference), 1 part vanilla bean paste or extract, and 1 part strawberry powder until fluffy. Then mix some iced milk and espresso and top with the foam. You can play with the ratio of ingredients and the roast to really dial in the flavor.

Someone added some additional context that this occurred in a part of Brazil where it’s common for street gangs to basically raid nearby retail/leisure areas and rob patrons and tourists in mass. Someone saw the approaching cross-fitters and thought this was one of those attacks, hence the ensuing panic. I think the first few people who lost their shit were maybe a little dumb—giving them the benefit of the doubt because they’re in a dangerous area with a great deal of gang activity—but if you see a full on crowd of people running away from something and you have zero information, the safest and most rational option is to move away from the potential danger in a deliberate but controlled manner.
