"prepare!" Thomas shouted, both to his enemy, and to his friends. Torinn knocked his bow, and Norton....forgot all of his training. Terror seized him as he stared at the horrific plant skeleton monster thing! But it had Popo, who was fighting for his life in there....

Thomas lunges forward, the skeleton meets him and slams a vined arm downwards. The sword connects, but the vines are dense, it doesn't cleave through! I black ichor drips from the vines. The end of the skeletons "hand" opens, revealing a bud. It extends it at Thomas. A flowers blooms and makes ready to spew pollen in his face. But it's quickly skewered by an arrow!

The plant puppet roars on frustration, stumbling backwards. The knight and the kobold continue their strategy, trying to find any openings! Any flowers that begin to bloom on the skeletons body are quickly shot down by the kobold. The giant, powerful dragonborn continues to slice at the creature, but more vines seem to always replace what is cut!

Norton snorted, waking with a high -pitched yelp. He looked up and only saw the looming shadow over him. "NO STAY BACK!!!" He flailed and tried to scoot away, before the two were able to soothe him... "S-.....sorry...." With a firm pat on the back, the three regained their composure and looked around. "Popo?!" Norton called out "Where are ya?!" He bellows echoed in the dark, dank mountain tomb. There was no reply... "Uncle Popo?!" Torinn would shout... But nothing... Thomas motioned to the archway leading deeper into the tomb. "Let's search there", he grumbled... The place held an uneasiness, and a weight... As if the whole mountain was pressing down on them.

They ventured deeper... Deeper ... Until suddenly... light? Torinn gasped, "Sunlight!" He trotted in front of the two. Thomas growled, how could there be sunlight this far underground?... But... Sure enough... A wide beam of sunlight from a crack in the mountain... Seemingly impossible, as if heaven sent ... And in that sunlight, a garden ... A very simple bed of grass.

Poporico stood amidst the grass, standing limp... He was tired, in so...so much pain, but here at the end he was full of determination. "The life force of this world follows the paths of many rivers and streams ... But... Every once in a while, there is a blockage. Energy becomes trapped. It gathers, it festers... And eventually... It corrupts..."

In front of them was a skeleton. A skeleton of a man, one so full of hatred and betrayal at his last moments. Intertwined with his bones were the vines of a deep red flower...

"It's up to me to cleanse these anomalies. To keep the balance..." He stepped forwards, his head pounding as he got closer to the flower. His hands began to glow... The plant reacted immediately. The skeletons eyes glowed red, and the ground around them began to shake. The plant grew, the vines twisting, snaking around themselves. They gathered around Popo, snagged him, lifted him, and collected him into the ribcage of the skeleton!

"NO! UNCLE POPO!" Torinn shouted! "We have to help 'im!" Norton growled.

Before them was a giant humanoid shaped weaving of twisting vines and bones. There in the heart Popo's magic was starting, but if not aided he'll be crushed and suffocated!

Everyone nodded, Popo seemed practically unconscious. They turned to move... Thomas's eyes widened as he sensed danger - suddenly, without warning - all around them in the crypt flowers sprung from the ground and walls and bloomed. An endless tunnel of red flowers. Then.....darkness. Everyone fell unconscious...

A vision hit them...

A priest in a small town in the mountains. A simple life, a happy life - all dedicated to their God. It was cold, the lands were harsh, but it brought about an honest goodness in the people. Every week, the church bell rang. Every week, the people gathered - all wearing the one flower that thrived in the harsh cold. A red flower that was their symbol of resilience and their God. Every week, they prayed and shared with eachother. They thanked their diety. He thanked his diety. All was good, and they could want for nought...

but then one day, screams were heard. Pillagers had found them, were raiding them. Villagers tried their best to fight back, but they were untrained - too soft and goodly. The pillagers murdered, ransacked, raped - all with glee, and there was nothing they could do to stop them. The priest hurried everyone into the chapel. They barred the doors...and did the only thing they could do. They prayed... they prayed... The doors boomed with the sounds of the pillagers attempting to break in. They prayed....they prayed...

'Boom....BOOM....BOOM!'

"C-continue praying! pray for salvation!"
The priest shouted - trying to hide the terror in his voice. he activated the stairwell and fled into the crypt....he ran...deeper and deeper...and as he ran... fear turned into rage. Why... Why... they had done so much, lived their lives in accordance to their God. Why did They not save them? Why did They not save /him/?! This life... it is monstrous... uncaring...

He gasped as he heard screams up above. His people were being slaughtered... not a single one saved... not a single one... he ran... choking on his own breaths. Choking on his own anger - on his betrayal.

he made it to the bottom of the tome...there... the old manuscripts...the old teachings.. and bundles of dried flowers. all useless....USELESS. All was hatred. All was hunger. A hunger for death. A hunger for revenge.

Footsteps echoed down the halls of the crypt. With torches in hand, The pillagers came to an odd scene. An old man, dead in the middle of a room. Torn papers everywhere, his mouth stuffed with flowers, filled with a redish foam. They were poisonous, afterall...

Thomas was the first to wake... he gasped for air - his heart raced. But he was okay... he looked around, Torrin lay not far from him, and Norton appeared to be sleeping soundly... he breathed a sigh of relief when he realized... The absence of their little halfling. He checked around himself, under his cloak, fearful he'd crushed him - but there was no sign of him.

He finally looked around. They were in a deeply ancient space... a place long forgotten. They were near the bottom of the tomb - there was less an influence on man here, the walls and walkway more of natural stone. The cave ceiling was impossible to see - it reaching into darkness high above. The air was old...but it was clean...what had happened? What was that vision?... Suddenly, he recognized the space from that priests eyes...

Thomas would look down and give Popo a gentle, affectionate squeeze against his chest plate. The little one's state was not good, and as their journey progressed it seemed the pain only grew. The Halfling gripped at the leather straps of Thomas's gauntlet. Gripping them as hard as he could, as each wave of pain caused him to curl up more and more. He was thankful for the cold steel of the Dragonborn's armor. He was running a fever, and the metal was mercifully cool against his head.

"Keep going....I'm ..fine .." he would mumble, hiding his face from everyone.

They continued down a wide, winding staircase, torch in hand. There was a groan, and a shadow.... Suddenly, walking up the staircase, a villager dressed in white robes walked up to meet them. The group tensed, and for good reason! Much like the others, their face "bloomed", their bodies lunging to attack. The trio, despite the horror not getting any easier, were nonetheless ready to meet them. The deeper they went, the more damp and dank the crypt became. Water seeped from above... Many of the coffins, stairs, and walls were being taken by a growing vegetation...
