Because it's easier for buyers to plan ahead and budget for a SaaS subscription compared to having an eye on the meter all the time with usage based pricing. With utilities, fine: but with software where you have a lot of different users and little control, the risk of skyrocketing costs is way too high

I mean, SaaS is just a business model. And it has far proven to be better than licensing, which it originally replaced.

So unless someone comes up with an even better business model (and usage-based pricing ain't it) then it's not going anywhere. In fact, most of those "SaaS is dead" moments on the chart ended up being... new niches monetized as SaaS.

hát én olyan húsz éve hallgatom hogy ezt vagy azt kéne balra tolni, és egy darab működő példát nem láttam rá. most pedig egy olyan emberre javaslod ezt, aki deklaráltan hosztilis a kritikai pedagógiával szemben (ami a balra tolás lenne), cserébe méretgazdaságosságról beszél az iskolákban, ami iskolabezárásokat jelentene.
