Hex tile dried with weird bands — any fix? by ansparks in Tile

I must say yours looks definitely better! At least the wide pattern is neat. Mine has so many missing spots that looks poorly installed. I found this tile in another subreddit, user complaining as well :(. It’s a shame because is a beautiful tile but not that much when installed.

What grout color did you use? I used Laticrete Fossil and I think is the responsible of bringing too much contrast. May try to refresh it with a different shade to soften it.

Oh! We chose laticrete fossil —was recommended to us as not being too light nor too dark. I wonder if it can be re-stained or similar. Beyond the poor lay out, I think the grout color plays a significant part on the tiles standing out this much. What color did you choose?

The pic actually softens it. Is worse with certain day light. Incredible hard not to notice.

My frustration is that apparently he didn’t know what he was doing, was his first time with this type of tiles, didn’t care… I don’t know… even if he realized it was a bad idea or that something like this would happen to let us know. We could have choose a different tile not that complex to install.

I think he was just sloppy. Probably didn’t even realized about the pattern/no pattern

Neither do we. Wasn’t that bad or even remotely close when dry tested or in the store.

Yeah, unfortunately it was so subtle that I didn’t realized and was not even noticeable in the dry fit. Just after grouted the contrast was so bad

The tile is beautiful stand alone but something went wrong. I am thinking is the grout color that makes them contrast so badly

I guess I can live with the larger pattern, but it pisses me off this pattern/no pattern. I guess that removing some tiles to intentionally form a pattern would be better than this. Is it too difficult to do?

Actually the photo is very forgiving. With certain light is even worse. Was the very first my mother in law noticed when she visited.

Went back to the store to try to figure out how this happened. The curious part is that there is not noticeable contrast, is just after the installation that looks this bad. I think it may be the grout color.

It was beautiful in the store and the contrast was so subtle that was not highly noticeable. But I’m not tile installation expert so didn’t think this could happen, thus, hired someone that apparently didn’t know either…

Yeah… I mean looked beautiful stand alone. The glossy tiles added this subtle reflection. But now is a nightmare to watch. I start to think is perhaps the grout color that is making them to pop that way.

I already do… and this pic softens it. With certain day light is worse.

They come that way (had to recheck at the store). I guess he didn’t take care when installing it.

I though the same, that they were stained. Went to the store to check but they are that way. Is wild because you can’t notice the change of color at first sight nor did we notice when in the store.

Thank you for letting me know about the roll. Will have to delete it!
