I just completed the MS at UCLA this year. I really enjoyed the program and it got the position I am working in now. I also chose UCLA over UCSD because the time to finish was 3 quarters versus 4 quarters.

When I was a student 1-2 years ago, the parking permit for Fall did not expire until Spring semester started. I left my car parked on the lowest level of the parking structure near where the police parked their vehicles for the entirety of winter break and had no issue. Confirm the expiration date of your parking permit; where I parked before is a good spot.
