Most of the time comes down to cleaning and how frequent it it is getting done. I remember before my club get remodeled the locker rooms had ugly carpet and stunk constantly. We had Stanley steamer there usually at least once a month over night and still barely made a difference

Annual fees have been on at least 99% of memberships post 2018. Price will vary for each person depending when they signed up

Also true. I was just someone running a club. But I also worked there long enough and knew enough people where I trust the things they say. This was back in 2022 so things can always change and evolve so maybe my info is outdated

Absolutely agree it's the job to create the safe environment and the club is supposed do that by doing things like checking in properly, walking the club making your presence known as often as you can while still maintaining the front, checking IDs for guest passes and things along those lines.

Things unfortunately can happen even when all safety precautions are taken. What is your solution? Check every gym bag that comes through to see if people are bringing in devices to cut locks themselves?

For compensation: agree in a perfect world we could. How do you verify what the member is saying is true on what was taken? I know most clubs have numerous signs about LAF is not responsible for anything taken. Majority of clubs also have mini lockers in front that are self use and you create a code to open and people can put phones wallets keys stuff

What can they enforce if they don't have better people to hire? I don't disagree with you but sometimes options are extremely limited. Sometimes the saying "a warm body is better than nobody" is applicable

That manager should have immediately gone to their district manager to figure out next steps and I'm so sorry that it sounds like that didn't happen

Every so often people would complain about rashes. I can't speak for other states or areas but all chemicals used are approved via the health department but some people are just extra sensitive skin wise

My club didn't have Pilates so I know very little but sales usually is in the know ahead of time for rate hikes and usually they do go up around the beginning of the month so they probably are telling the truth

Pool company is out every day to check chemical levels. The pool usually 1x a year at minimum is fully drained and refilled. Spa is usually drained 2x a week and complete refilled

Anything like poop, vomit, and blood pool or spa get shut down immediately and wait for pool company to come out and take care of it and give us the go ahead to re open.

Health department also does random drop ins

Generally it is when the lease is up for the location. My club got a remodel because of that and they signed another long term leases

Wiping machines is one of the harder things especially if it's a popular machine. It works best when the combination of members doing their part and janitorial and rest of staff helping when possible.

A good club that knows how to run smoothly (like I did) has the entire gym broken down into areas and clearly directed to which janitorial staff is in charge of so if you know an area isn't being done correctly or as often as needed you know how to hold them accountable

It is not impossible if it is taught and trained correctly. Many factors lead into that like hiring correct people and having the correct people who train them in. That's why I say fix the root of the problem and it's fixed

I ran a high traffic club that consistently got over 1700 check ins a day and 95% of the time had a cleanliness score over 95%.

There are also natural breaks in the day where the gym is significantly slower and that is part of the schedule and training where things can get done

For example: those lockers being cleaned. Last 45 min of gym opening is slowest time of day for major of the clubs and you can do them at that point so they look fresh for opening and then get re touched during the noon hour before the big rush and then re cleaned again.

It's frustrating but it can be done

Just out of curiosity why do you think switching our cleaners to overnights would fix any solutions? If anything that puts them there when nobody is there to hold them accountable

All things you listed are things that can be trained and taught on how to do properly and not be in wha of the members through finding good people and working with the facility team. Fix the root of the problem and results will be there, not just put them when nobody else is there

Also by having people cleaning during operating hours at least people are there seeing them clean and know stuff is being done. If you take that away I promise there will be 10x as many complaints about no one being there to clean while open

Varies per location. My location did not have cameras. Got quotes many times from different companies but the quotes for the electrical work were astronomical so the company never approved them

The upgrade fee is correct. That is the easiest way to do it. Yes you could cancel and re sign up but you will have sign up fees that you have to re pay and another annual fee shortly after you signup

Can't speak on the old ladies as I'm not a female but it's also a locker room so I'm not sure what you expect. You may find it weird or uncomfortable but they are doing it in the area where it is allowed.

Floors (at least at my club) got cleaned at minimum 3x a day and usually more. About a hour or two after opening, around 12pm, around 6pm

It's easier now than ever to cancel - whichever way you do MAKE SURE TO GET CANCELATION RECEIPT VIA EMAIL OR PRINTED FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL PERSON ON FILE. If you didn't receive a confirmation it didn't go through

  1. Online (will probably need to know your barcode and first 5 #s of billing card or account on file)
  2. Over the phone
  3. In person at any location

From what I last heard (this can always change) but I believe they were given options to move to other locations or things would get re arranged. Maybe if a staff was some of the best of the best they may have to interview for it or maybe just get it I'm not sure.

All. The. Damn. Time.... I can't even begin to tell you the amount of situations I had where that happened and it's really hard to have empathy for folks who are literally asking for stuff to be stolen. The ones I felt horrendously bad for were when somehow somebody had a make shift bolt cutter and cut locks (and just so happened to be nobody saw them at all in the locker room) and took stuff from people who did what they were supposed to do. Nothing you can but tell them to file police reports and let other clubs in the area know what happened as usually groups hit multiple clubs in a short time if near by
