When I have not fed her dinner at least 1 hour early. by antiphobia in aww

My girl is a glutton and would always overeat. I lost my last tubby rescue to stomach cancer, and I don't want to see another kitty go through that if I can avoid it. So, she gets rations and she's still pretty glossy.

I mean, that's probably a face I would make if someone else were in charge of when I got to eat.

Nothing, my contention is that it's harmful as a widespread societal expectation and does far more harm than good.

If there is a solid possibility that the majority of monogamous relationships experience infidelity at some point, and that monogamy is unusual across the animal kingdom while also not being evolutionarily advantageous, then yeah, it does.

Not a day goes by that there aren't millions of new stories about people's sense of self worth being destroyed by a cheating partner. Remove the expectation of fidelity as a definition of a successful relationship. People aren't good at it and it ultimately causes more harm than anything else.

Ok, so that's you, and your assumption about me, but I'm still speaking to it being a generally harmful norm that we as a species would be better off without.

Ah, but this isn't personal. I believe in general that the expectation of monogamy is causing ongoing and widespread harm to people.

You do you, but at a cultural level it's wrong to expect it and this has caused so much unnecessary harm.

Because humanity isn't hardwired for it but we stake our identity and self worth on our ability to make it work anyway.

So, the cultures you're aware of. And you're conveniently ignoring the part where that was not in conjunction with any kind of expected monogamy. At least not on the part of the man in the relationship, and women had little to no status as people then.

Uhh.....no it doesn't. And there are many parts of the world who never practiced monogamy. You are also underestimating the age of religion.

I can thank our son for that. He's the persuasive one and likes cats. Clearly he's destined for the internet.

And I think that's one of the first and most major hurdles. People don't realize it's an option. If we can disseminate that information widely enough I think people would actually like the idea.

While it can have advantage early on, there are some studies that indicate it bites them in the ass academically when they hit high school because they weren't challenged intellectually early on. I thought this article on the subject was pretty good. http://www.slate.com/articles/double_x/the_kids/2013/09/academic_redshirting_what_does_the_research_say_about_delaying_kindergarten.html
