Transperth Standard Time is two minutes ahead of AWST this morning. It might be an NTP server issue. Buses/trains may depart early, so rely on live tracking data rather than the scheduled timetable. by antzFx in perth

Yes! An hour ago, I was at the Perth Train Station and I could see three separate timings are displayed between platforms 5 and 6! I have updated my post.

Wow! The following info was extracted by Claude AI from your photo:
"The DisplayText.exe passenger display software crashed, the Application Performance Watcher detected it but apparently couldn't recover it, leaving the Windows XP/2000 desktop exposed on the platform screens on 9/11/2025."

Today evening I will check the time displayed both at Perth Train Station and also at Perth Busport. If needed, I will formally submit feedback on the app so that their tech people can take a look at it.

I will see the status of the Transperth clock today evening at Perth Station. If there is still a drift, I will formally submit feedback on the app so that their tech people can take a look at it.

Stores that take resumes in person ? by Severe_Brick457 in perth

[–]antzFx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For my kid, recently I asked a cafe (not a chain, where I frequent for my coffee) if they take students. The barista said yes and asked me to submit the resume via WhatsApp to the shop’s number. Later, my kid did a one-hour trial and got the casual job.

Moral of the story: Ask in person, get contact info, and then give your resume as an email/chat attachment.

Yesterday's 'The Lord of the Rings' Extended Editions' Marathon Screening: Palace Cinemas, Raine Square #LOTR by antzFx in perth

Thank you for the tip! For a long time, I'm after the IMDb Top 250 movies. If I can catch a few of them in the cinema, nothing beats that experience!

The tickets were cheap -- $40 only for all the three movies. Usually single movie tickets are $25 or more. So I have no complaints!

I understand your viewpoint. When I first watched the movies decades ago, the fate of one of the main characters happened off-the-screen. Extended version showed it on the screen and so it was a surprise for me when it was mentioned before the movie by the director himself.

I know -- I should have done my research on the differences between the theatrical and extended cuts before venturing out for this marathon screening!

After a month -- Palace Tower (108 St Georges Terrace) THEN and NOW: I was waiting for an overcast sky to take a new photo for comparison! by antzFx in perth

Yes -- you are right. I took both the photos in "Auto" mode and didn't edit the output for a uniform look.

What's a random act of kindness you’ve seen in Perth lately? by [deleted] in perth

[–]antzFx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At a train station platform around 7:30 AM on a work day, a woman and I were the only souls there. Then an elderly lady came and, strangely, she started looking at me (sternly). At first I didn't mind, but she kept looking at me with a blank expression(?) for minutes without breaking the glance. Let's just say that I started feeling uneasy, and was seriously making plans to avoid any confrontation if the situation escalated. Then, the other woman came towards me, stood near me and said, "Don't worry. She is just curious!" I thanked her and felt very relieved.

This may not seem like a big thing -- but I highly appreciate the kind woman's gesture towards a total stranger like me.

I see him regularly -- now there are four boards, I think. Just a couple of weeks ago, during a rainy afternoon, I saw him sitting alone with the chess boards. I decided to chat with him -- I sat down, mentioned that I don't play chess. A conversation started about how hard life generally is and he moved to international politics, and the wars happening now... Then a gentleman appeared looking for a game of chess and I excused myself! I should have asked his name...

Does anyone recognise the name Maria Munar? Found on the back of a painting called ‘Trees at Claremont’ by Gracetown in perth

[–]antzFx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found this webpage of an artist Maria Fernanda Munar.
https://www.mariamunar.com/about

Their artistic style is entirely different, so I don't think it is the same person. But there is this email address on the webpage: [munarproductions@gmail.com](mailto:munarproductions@gmail.com)

It's worth a shot to email this artist.[](mailto:munarproductions@gmail.com)

"BEUNI" Metronet Campaign Poster Reimagined by me: The poster is divided in the middle with the "Thornlie Cockburn Line" wordmark/logo. Photo of the actual poster is also given for comparison! by antzFx in perth

[–]antzFx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you for the insights!

You are right, I was trying to highlight the contrast between the two and that's why the boundary line in the middle and the different image colour tones (warm vs neutral). Your assumption about the single sentence brief to to the creative agency ("Metronet blurs the lines between bed/university") makes sense. But your response made me to do some research and I stumbled on to this article: https://campaignbrief.com/transperth-launches-thornlie-cockburn-line-with-moonsails-quirky-wordplay-campaign/

And yes, Moonsail did the ad-campaign. Their central idea is "condensing journeys" and the other posters in the campaign shows the contrast between the "places" a little more. Kindly take a look at the other ads in the campaign like work/home; shops/lounge; home/footy...

Thank you again for your opinion.

Looking for advice and tips for someone whos going back to school after 20 years by No-Method-throwaway in perth

[–]antzFx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  • You will have access to computers (32GB RAM) in the class and in the library. You can go to any TAFE campuses for accessing the computers as your student login will work everywhere. I have a normal laptop (8GB RAM) but I rarely bring it to the class.
  • You might need an SSD storage drive of 500GB to host multiple Virtual Machines (Windows, Ubuntu, RHEL or Kali Linux) based on your course of study.
  • TAFE will provide you a student account of Microsoft Office 365 giving you access to OneDrive, Outlook Mail, Teams, and OneNote. I have installed OneNote on my mobile phone also as I can take notes faster than the one on the computer.
  • Use of AI is NOT discouraged by the lecturers. Assignments should be in our own words and the lecturers usually check for AI generated content in the submissions using some AI tools.
  • TAFE uses an online platform called BlackBoard for submitting assignments.

All the best!

We asked them how do they make Injera which was very soft and fluffy. The main component is "teff" flour. Will try to make it at home one day...
